The world apparently ended yesterday when google stopped working I didn't know it was a big deal until I heard about it on NPR and they said it was a big deal. So, everyone's lifes were ruined yes? Were there any real life problems caused by this outtage were are people just in shock that god can be toppled by the whims of the universe?

Your experiences?

I had to wait an hour before I could get the grocery list my wife sent me.

That was pretty rough.

Once I figured out I could, if I desperately needed to, get my gmail on my half-busted iphone, I was okay. I had gotten back from a few hours out and about to find that I could see my inbox, but not read any of the messages. Minorly frustrating, not really that problematic.

Hmm. I guess I must've been doing something else while that was happening.

Actually, it worked well for me. I was in the middle of a gmail chat fight with an ex-boyfriend, and the downtime gave me a chance to really organize my arguments regarding exactly how mean he was treating me. When we took it up again later I was very well-prepared.

I realized that my gmail didn't work and went on with life. Didn't really effect me at all.

Of course my work uses Zimbra now, which makes my life sucky enough.

I didn't really have a problem, but it's gone down during the work day right when I needed it to do some translation and that was a royal bitch. (And my boss was in his office and yelled out 'what's another search engine?')

I had been out shopping for most of it and on my return found I couldn't access my email. Half an hour later I was able to view my empty inbox.

Email didn't work for a bit. Life went on, and I went out and took photos.

gmail is my secondary account that I check once or twice a day so I didn't notice.

I only tried checking it once while it was down. My son makes sure I don't obsess about my inbox.

I was frustrated because my work phone was broken and I'd left my cell phone at home, so coordinating dinner with friends after work was impossible.

My Googlephone never stopped working, so I was unaware. (I do use Yahoo Mail on my Googlephone... shh, don't tell.)

I access gmail via POP and didn't notice any delays in receiving emails.

I didn't even notice. Maybe it happened while I was at the dentist.

I had to work. It was awful. Did you know I share an office with four people? I didn't.

I had no idea Google was down. I imagine I would have survived.

On a side note, I got a hit on my blag the other day from, of all places, webcrawler. WEBCRAWLER.

It was a search for animal sex.
