Hepburn Kat or Audrey?[More:]
I don't really know enough about their work to have an opinion (a lot more research is needed) but I have a slight bias against Audrey because of Holly Golightly--because of the twee image of her with a cigarette-holder that teenyboppers pattern onto their myspaces, etc. (gotta love the gloves in that pic though). She just seems to have embodied a very airy and fickle-headed version of femininity in that role.
Well, here in Japan it's Audrey Audrey Audrey. The Cult of Audrey. She remains quite popular, it would seem, at least as an icon/image. There's a chain of banks that uses her photograph(s) in their advertising. Here's an example:

I'd have to say Katharine--although I'm not a "fan"--because I will turn off anything with Audrey Hepburn in it or referred to in breathless tones. I do like that one Katharine Hepburn movie--one of the screwballs.

To heck with the Hepburns, Hedy's my heroine ;-)

Audrey, because I loooove the movie Wait Until Dark.

Oh, I'm all about Katharine. She was not just a fine actress, she was hugely committed to progressive causes. From wearing trousers before it was OK for women to do so to helping raise $1 million for Planned Parenthood in the very early 1980s, Katharine Hepburn ROCKED.

Katharine all the way. She was all awesome and activisty.

Or, what Stewriffic said.

I don't know, but me too, BP, I looooove that movie.

Specklet, I saw that movie for the first time when I was about 12, and it flipped me out. :)

I am with BoPo. In terms of work, I prefer the Audrey stuff I've seen. But, that's not to say that I can't appreciate the cool-as-fuck Katherine.

Katherine. Philadelphia Story, Bringing up Baby and the African Queen are some of my favorites. Nothing wrong with Audrey, though. If we're talking about raw sex appeal, I'd dump them both for Lauren Bacall.

Gotta go with Kate on this one - we need far more people like her in the world.

BUT...if we're going on simple "yummy on a stick from the classics era", it's gotta be Jean Arthur.

God this thread is making me whine for Netflix. I wish our movies now had these kind of women in them.

Katharine; I prefer people who know how cool they are to people who know how pretty they are.

I'll take 'em both. They're like the perfect pair of grandmothers. You get one who's a spitfire and very strong and independent and doesn't mind cussing in front of you, and then you have the other who's gentle and genteel and has a very kind heart and loves children and smells good.

Continuing mudpuppie's theme: Katharine, definitely, all the way. She was way cool and would be a most excellent grandmother.

Were I stuck with my current looks, I don't think I'd want someone as beautiful as Audrey for a grandmother, though if she passed the genes to me I wouldn't mind.

Kate, definitely, she's so kick-ass and "piss-off if you don't like what I am/do".

Having both Hepburns as grandmothers would indeed be interesting.

Katharine. Do NOT presume to call her Kat.

You may stop spinning now, Katharine.

Rainbaby IS Katharine Hepburn.

I'm not a fan of the Audrey obsessives more than anyone else, but riddle me this: DID KATHERINE HEPBURN LIVE WITH A BABY DEER? HUH?

Nope, but she did pal around with a leopard named Baby:

While I'm not usually one for cults-of-personality, I like 'em both.

I'm enjoying reading these comments in the voice of the actor being discussed.

Now, for my own amusement -

Did Katharine Hepburn live with a baby deer? Certainly not. Katharine Hepburn tore her trousers rescuing the baby deer from the pesky wolf, carried the vile, and by vile she means adorable thing home, splinted its leg and bottle fed it, put it in a basket, rang the doorbell of that twee little Audrey person, and went to pay a visit to her buck.

You linked to a picture of AUDREY with a baby deer. It's a scene from the movie Green Mansions about a nature girl, Rima, who lives in the rain forests of South America and communes with all creatures. Based on the novel of the same name, first published in 1904.

Although it looks like while she was filming the movie, the little guy did live with her.

Caption says: Audrey Hepburn at home while filming "Green Mansions".

And I love, love, love both Audrey and Kate.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with LT that rainbaby is the new Hepburn.
