I've never heard of the book, but that looks like it could be a really fun movie. (And kudos on the Heavenly Creatures comparison, octothorpe... it does look very much on that scale, which is cool as that's my favorite PJ movie.)
I'm not allowed to see it in theaters, I've just been told by the husband. I started bawling at the start of the trailer and only stopped because he made me laugh.
I read the book on the commuter train and couldn't stop crying, people noticed. Husband started laughing at me, 'Stop it, they're going to think I beat you."
We'll totally rend it... with tons of ice cream ready.
I don't wanna see it, I have a really hard time with violence-against-women tales, however ultimately uplifting they may be. Similarly to eatdonuts, I read the book while on a weeklong beach vacation with friends. I lay in the sun on a cheerful towel, my chest tight, weeping for the plight of the Irish people. A couple of my friends had already read it and occasionally looked up at me and said "Yeah...that is one, sad, book."
