Quick poll: Am making pineapple/basil granita this evening. Add mint, or no?
A completely non-granita-knowin' opinion? I'd guess that the basil is enough, without adding mint? Also, pineapple/mint doesn't sound right to me.

But again, I really have no ACTUAL knowledge of this issue!

No. Not because I know anything, just because I don't like mint.

Serve with a simple mint syrup on the side and experiment on the fly?

For keeping the strength of the flavors I'd go Mint/Pineapple or Basil/Pineapple or what you have. A 3rd flavor seems like too much confusion.

richat: I'm growing a pineapple mint plant! it smells like pineapple but has a cooling minty aftertaste, so I think they go together nicely.

I wouldn't do both basil and mint.

I love mint but I'm with occhi and The Whelk. Either basil or mint sounds wonderful. Not both though.

Really, The Whelk? Now I gotta go google that!

I agree, not both. I'd go with mint rather than basil.

I like basil, and I like mint, and I might even like 'em together (with, say, chicken wings, or seitan, or another of those foods that's mostly a palette), but with pineapple I say stick with one or the other. Don't want to overwhelm the fruitiness.

What did you end up doing and how did it turn out?
