That's a great song! I wish they'd do an English-language version, "99 Luftballoons" style. It probably won't climb the US charts as is.

I agree though - there's no song you hear everywhere this year. Some summers it doesn't really happen. American pop seems to be mired in some tired ideas right now - thin, choppy, clubby, and autotuned. Haven't heard a really fresh sound that appealed to a lot of people in a while. I'm still hearing "All Summer Long" a lot this summer, even though it was kind of last summer's song. And even then it wasn't because it captured a zeitgeist with some amazingly original sound - it worked because it was already familiar. Maybe our national anxiety is just too high to be experimentational with music this year.

I don't really every hear any new music, which is sort of sad. I seldom listen to the radio and don't go to clubs so I'm not really sure where I'd hear it. If there were a song of the summer, where would you all hear it?

I certainly don't care for it, but I would say that if it's anything, it's Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eyed Peas.

For me, it's Sleepyhead by Passion Pit. Not a new song, but new to me.

This is not THE song of the summer, but it's the kind of breezy power pop that makes me want to drink beer from a cooler and swim in the lake, so it's definitely MY song of the summer.
