Photo Friday: A Room with a View→[More:]Not sure if this one has been done before. Too bad. You're stuck with it anyway.
Not sure if it was done before? jonathanstrange, something very similar was done THIS MONTH! It's still listed on the front page! Might I respectfully suggest that you look a little harder next time?
I wish I could get the whole flickr linky thing to work. Every time I try, I get errors. I even try copying the source from a working one, but mess it up somehow...
Hey, Eideteker, what, you don't know the meaning of the word "respectfully"? Save the mean-spiritedness for MetaFilter, man! Isn't this supposed to be the nice site?
Why jonathanstrange, you little plotter and planner you! I hope you'll take account of my use of the word "respectfully" in my comment to you, though. I actually meant it, even if a certain chatter upthread didn't seem to understand the usage.
flapjax, after talking to both Eide and jonathanstrange, I suspect what's actually happened is that you being a bit tongue-in-cheek in your original comment and the feeling she had when reading your note was completely outsized compared to your intention (especially in regard to the THIS MONTH shouty part). I understand your frustration with seeing the double post though and think it was just a communication failure.. I just say this because turning it into a clash of egos is fun for some people but not really the sort of thing that should be encouraged in these contexts.
The view from my son's window. They shot some of Cat in the Hat here, so everything is colorful (including the pink sidewalk before they spent months pressure washing it)
O it is, Richat. If you ever make it out to Portland and have some extra time, it's a fun place to go. Occasionally an eel will go by, or some insanely large fish. The small ones just kinda go "whoosh" and I expect are probably bewildered.
When it's slow you can talk to the people whose job it is to sit there and count them. They told me at the slowest part of winter, they "tape" the fish ladder and then count them up when they get there in the morning because it's just too slow.
There's also Herman the Sturgeon who is over 10 feet long not far from the ladder itself. He's not the original, some jerk snuck into the fish hatchery and stole Herman (how do you wander off with a 12 foot fish?), but he's been there a good long while.
