OMG! What song am I going to walk down the aisle to in less than 2 weeks?!?!?! I had originally said that if I ever got married, I wanted to be carried down the aisle on a litter like Cleopatra by 4 muscular men while drag queens and bellydancers frolicked around me and the song "Gay Bar" by Electric Six played. [More:]I was totally serious. No really, I thought this would be HI-LARIOUS and fun. But it ain't gonna happen, and the groom has nixed the tune (he just thinks it's silly).

It's a Norse ceremony in an outdoor setting.

The pre-wedding music is Japanese Taiko drums, Nordic folk music (mostly fiddle and percussion).

How did I not even think of this minor detail??

Dead Can Dance seems obvious, but feels too pretentious.

Anything else I can think of is too long or too gloomy.
"Circus" by Britney Spears.

All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus

Don't worry about too long - just figure out how long it takes to do the walk and edit the song down (in my case, I just had a guy queue it up at the right point and hit "stop" when I reached the front).

A Norse ceremony, eh? How about something by Sigur Ros? Very beautiful and epic and uplifting. I especially like some of the songs off their album Takk.

OMG!!! *HEADSLAP*

How did I forget about them??? I've only seen them live 3 times and have all their albums. Like seriously, that is the biggest head/desk moment...

See, this is why I ask these things, you guys are so much smarter than I am!

I used Hoppipolla for our wedding last year and it was beautiful. We just played it from the beginning and faded out once I made it to the altar.

Now that the music is taken care of - what did you end up getting for your wedding dress/outfit?

My sister had an outdoor wedding, and as she and her intended walked towards the altar-like thing, everyone rang tiny brass bells that had been handed out. It was really neat-o, and everyone got to keep their bell.

This blouse in Red Hot

And this skirt in Red Hot

The hairstylist is doing my hair with a crown braid, and then these sort of Regency style curls and ringlets in the back, and we are weaving my 6ft strand of freshwater pearls into the braid (I have waist length hair). My bouquet will be black-eyed susans and wildflowers.

I'm glad you're a Sigur Ros fan!

'Dude and I walked down the aisle to a New Pornographer's song that's on our favorite album, and now every time I hear it there's this frisson of warmth that makes me smile.

Ugh, if only it were that easy. Sadly, if it isn't gothic industrial dance music, he isn't interested.

However, for our first dance, we are dancing to "Brand New Key" by Melanie. It's a long story that has to do with a drunken night in Bremerton during our courtship.

Never before has that phrase been uttered in the context of a happy ending.
I love your choice of clothes, and the style you'll wear your hair...looking forward to your pictures!

Thank you so much! I will be posting photos once we get them back from the developer. My brother is doing the photos and he is pretty talented for an amature. I told him to go ahead and be arty, so it should be interesting at the very least. He has a Seagull box camera that is the same model Diane Arbus used, and he's using a similar b&w film to what she used. He also has something called a Holga... I don't know what that does. Something cool, I guess :D
