Transformers 2 Is A Drug: Discuss.... [More:]

I wanted to hate it. There was much to hate. But in the end, I surrendered to the fact that Michael Bay did what seemed to be his entire stash of cocaine when he directed it.

It went on for what seemed like weeks. It was plotted like a grand mal seizure. Half of the characters seemed lost during their scenes.

But I still gave in to it's corpulent and spastic embrace. It was as if my entire nervous system rose up against my cerebral cortex and vaporized it.

I'd like to hear what other folks thought of this one.
Is it something like sniffing paint?

Like: I've felt dizzy after sitting too long in a petrol station and involuntarily inhaling the fumes (Transformers 1), and I gather it doesn't help one's brain-cell count, so I have no desire to go and get into it deliberately (chroming/Transformers 2).

A movie about cars that turn into alien robots? I'll pass. I may be missing something but I can live with that.

MOFB. Not as bad as the reviews said, pretty watchable if you like seeing things get blown up, superb effects, dumb everything-else.

Not great though. I think the big problem with Michael Bay is that he's too impatient to ever let tension build up; so the the action scenes never feel that involving.

Michael Bay Finally Made An Art Movie

One of the most entertaining film reviews I've ever read, and the sole reason I want to see Transformers 2 now.

I thought it was much too much sensory overload sort of thing. Of course, I went to the midnight showing and wound up sitting in the middle of a group of high school boys and was sitting in the 4th row from the screen.

(There is always going to be a place in my heart for movies that serve no other purpose than to BLOW.SHIT.UP.)
