My excitement has paid off! My logs have sprouted shrooms! (Previous) [More:]

It took a few days longer than expected but Sam, the large log, has put forth fungus. Taste Shiitake funguseses. The other log, Bob, has been shocked so it will begin to produce in about a week. My garden is exploding with veg so the shrooms couldn't have come at a better time. Stir-fry anyone? (The pictures are blurry a bit. sorry, crappy phone.
Yay! Shroomalicious!

Will they continue to produce, or is this a one-time thing? Since you've named them, they are officially family members.

HOW CAN YOU EAT A FAMILY MEMBER????!!!!!

These logs have been inoculated with spore and will produce, 8 weeks on, 8 weeks off, for up to 2 years.

Well, the fungus grows on the log so no eating family here.

Can psychedelic mushrooms be grown in the same fashion?

Well, it's good to know what's growing on your family tree isn't it?

Wow, it's going to live for 2 years! How great!
