26 June 2009

I honestly hope that what is making me feel like crap is swine flu.[More:]

I'm back at work after three days at home, and I should have stayed home. I'm not that bad off, but I can't think straight and I want to lie down real baaaad.

I'm thinking: if I've got a little bit of the piggy-wiggy boogie-woogie flu, then I'll have some immunity built up in case there's a worse version around this autumn...

How are you guys feeling? Let's snuggle.
My jaw is aching BUT IT'S NOT MY WISDOM TEETH I'M NOT GETTING THEM TAKEN OUT THERE'S PLENTY OF ROOM I'M JUST FINE SHUT UP.

On the bright side, wrapping my head in a big obnoxious Miss Cleo lookin' lime sherbet turban totally cured my mild hangover.

I fell in a hole. Now my ankle is about three times its normal size and Guy is out of town this week and the cats won't fetch and carry for me. *And* I got sunscreen in my eye.

BAH!

My ring finger is red and sore from trying on wedding rings yesterday --- no, really! --- and I choose not to acknowledge my wisdom tooth.

Also, there is the matter of my tailbone. Let us speak of it no more.

But otherwise, fine, thanks!

I was in a race yesterday (okay, I walked it, but still) and today my calves feel like they are in vise grips. Not to mention the lingering sinus headache I woke up with. But otherwise feeling okay.

I'm still coughing after a week of anti-biotics and codeine. I'd wanted it to be swine flu because it would've been so trendy and a cool story to tell the grandkids someday, but no such luck.

I still have a blister on my toe (and I'll be damned if it's gonna keep me from walking wherever I want to!) but I'm rid of the swine flu and its attendant misery.

I hope you all take care of yourselves and feel better as soon as possible, you're all wonderful.

I'm thinking about taking a nap and planning a stay-cation very soon where I'll just hole up in my house and sleep and watch movies and not go to work because I really think I'm very close to be completely burnt out and I have no idea if that's what this feeling is or if a stay-cation will fix it.

(No swine flu here, thankfully. My department is on high-pandemic-plan alert though.)

I'm in the flu club too (don't know if it's the porcine sort) and have a broken filling. Stocked upon oscillococcinum and sambucol...and I think I have some parecetamol with codeine left.. My dentist treats jazz musicians, so he's open Saturday.

Feel-better wishes to everyone!

Had 3 cavities filled today, and one tooth prepped for a crown. He didn't recommend the root canal today, but I feel as though I may need one now, and the other two cavities filled weren't shaped well and are all jaggedy in my mouth! Snagglepuss. :\ The crown tooth is achey and sensitive and motrin didn't help so I got the Tylenol 3 Rx filled and it's killing my stomach. I go to Europe in one week and really want to have this stuff taken care of! Boo hoo, wah wah wah, why me, etc. and so forth.

hey Specklet I hope you had it too! I am very annoyed you didn't come down and let me nurse you so you could give it to my whole family! How could you let me down like this!!!

Just been to my Xnth meeting about the strategies in training the junior docs for the expected outbreak next Autumn/Winter. They've already stopped testing for it in most cases if they are in healthy individuals, and they're being a bit more judicious in the use of Tamiflu. I get to make really key decisions about how long we stop training for to allow the trainees to be all hands on deck in the hospitals, 4 full weeks added on to the end of their training?? 6 full weeks?? my god, I'm having sleepless nights over such earth-shattering decisions!!! ;)
Basically it's a godsend for the trainees in certain specialties, public health, infectious diseases, medicine, but for the poor junior surgeons it's going to be boring (hectic, busy yes, but NOT SURGERY, these are very driven individuals you understand) and not let them get to theatre so we need to see if we give them more time to achieve their competences. Gripping stuff, really!
