Funniest movie review I've read in ages. The money quote:
LaBoeuf projects a pathetic, wall-eyed dorkhood, when he's not babbling like a tumor removed from Woody Allen's prostate that somehow achieved sentience.
Now I want to be a Transformer! I'll remember to pick up my adult diapers on the way to the theatre.

I wound up sitting in the 4th row from the screen when I went to see this at midnight and I almost had to leave halfway through because all the EXPLOSIONS AND LOUD NOISES AND SCREAMING AND BRIGHT BLINKY LIGHTS was just very close to complete sensory overload for me.

Ha, that was entertaining. The first one was torturous (caught glimpses of it on DVD), I will not be seeing this one. A few days ago my husband told me that Roger Ebert said the movie was "dumber than a box of staples". I laughed.

How could you ignore this, Beeps:

The more pathetic Sam gets, the more Fox's lips pout and her nipples point, like little Irish setters.

I actually went and saw this movie, based on that review and some interesting comments about the incidental sounds on the .microsound listeserv (an email list for experimental digital audio nerds). I sat up real close, and all the robots were so blurry, and the explosions were so big.

The best laugh for me, was the part where the army is fighting the bad robots in the middle of some village in Jordan, exploding goats, camels, clay huts, and guys with rags on their heads and women in burkahs left and right, and then our hero stumbles into the middle of the battle. Suddenly, the army dudes are all frantic on their radios "there is a civilian, hold your fire, a civilian!!!".

The .microsound guys were right, they really went crazy with the wonderful robot sound effects, every time a robot moves is a miniature electronic tone poem.
