25 June 2009

Yeah, I just saw that. Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson on the same day... Ed McMahon a few days ago. They say death comes in threes... very sad.

It's on tv that he's dead, as well. I never put Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett in the same sentence before, but now I guess I have to.

Bless them.

If he's dead, I'm very sorry.

But, honestly, I don't trust TMZ as far as I can throw them. He may very well have died, but I wouldn't put it past TMZ to take the gamble and report before it's confirmed.

Either way, I guess I'm still sorry.

AND OF COURSE IT COMES IN THREES, THERE'S AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF IT, IT COMES IN ANY NUMBER YOU WANT. IF YOU WAIT A LITTLE BIT LONGER IT WILL COME IN FOURS OR SEVENTEENS. WHY DO PEOPLE SAY THIS?

WHEN YOU FIND OUT, LET ME KNOW. BECAUSE AS YOU WERE TYPING THAT, MY COWORKER WAS STEADFASTLY SWEARING THAT IT'S TRUE.

OF COURSE IT'S TRUE. IT'S ALSO TRUE THAT THREE PEOPLE WERE BORN TODAY, THREE PEOPLE FELL IN LOVE TODAY, AND THREE PEOPLE CUT THEIR TOENAILS TOO SHORT TODAY.

Well, it was here that I found out that Heath Ledger was dead. If metachat says MJ is dead, he must be. Peace out, Thriller dude.

For those interested, cardiac arrest is different from and worse than a heart attack. Fatal heart attacks are generally those that cause cardiac arrest.

Walter Cronkite isn't doing well either, according to his family.

Twitter is so over-capacity, I can't even get the fail-whale.

LA Times claims he has died.

According to the NYT, a Twitter analyst says that Michael has been about 15% of Twitter traffic, whereas neither Iran nor the swine flu has ever cracked 5%.

Well, did the swine flu ever do the moonwalk, baby?

Dead deadily dead dead. I guess I oughta shuffle off to the Blue to see what is going on over there.

Everybody's claiming he's dead now, though some still use the 'sources report' style. Most likely, I think, is that TMZ figured they'd play the percentages and jump the gun in hopes of getting the scoop.

On preview: oh, it's hoppin'.

Hmm, he was 2 months and 3 weeks older than I am.

My thoughts on MJ dying, even though I wasn't a fan of much of his post-Five stuff, was that being that famous, like Elvis before him, is not good for anybody especially if they come from humble backgrounds. It just seems to mess with your mind, unless you're on of the few people who seem instinctually prepared for it.

So RIP, MJ, and Farrah and Ed McMahon, too just to round out the 'three.'

Jeff Goldblum and Harrison Ford are not dead!

A great entertainer, but not unlike Mike Tyson and so many other great entertainers; they really needed better handlers to separate the entertainer from the individual. Friday will be full of mud and crap as the media changes from shock of death to OMG NOTORIOUS LIFE to sap the story as long as possible.

Okay, super-cynical me: How stoked is Governor Sanford that two very public and tragic deaths took place today?

Seeing the pictures of him everywhere makes me want to weep. I look at that cute little boy, and the handsome young man, and wonder what in the name of god was done to him that he felt the need to mutilate himself to such an extent. I don't think it was a case of his humble background not prepping him for being a star. I suspect he went through some horrific shit as a child, I don't know what else could cause such self loathing with regard to his own face.

He was, without a doubt, one of the most important musicians of the late 20th century. But I don't think we will ever know just how deeply disturbed he really was.

I'd have found this horribly depressing many years ago but at this point I figure the guy is better off.
RE: Plastic surgery on his face. Last night on one of the many tributes on TV, it was supposed that one of the reasons he had so much plastic surgery was that he saw that as grew older, he was starting to look more and more like his father, whom he hated. Hence the surgery to change his looks. I'm just sayin'. Also, I'm surprised I haven't heard anything in the press about Janet Jackson, the OTHER Jackson superstar...

Well, if anyone asks, he was ... hiking the Appalachian Trail.

From the MeFi thread:
Lisa Marie Presley: Michael knew he would die like Elvis.

All of my indifference and detachment that I worked so hard to achieve over the years has just gone into the bowels of hell and right now I am gutted.... We all worried that this would be the outcome then. At that time, In trying to save him, I almost lost myself....

He deserves to be free from all of that and I hope he is in a better place or will be. I also hope that anyone else who feels they have failed to help him can be set free because he hopefully finally is.

Wow.
