Refregerator magnets Where can I find non-kitschy, saying-free refrigerator magnets nowadays?
That's like asking for flavor-free, toppingless pizza!

Lee Valley Tools has several plain, well-designed magnets, including these. (Warning: browsing the Lee Valley website may lead to drooling, extreme covetousness, and a desire to become a carpenter.)

These are kind of cheery.

Are you just looking for the ones that are, like, chunks of metal? Toy stores, or at least yuppie/smart-kid toy stores, are likely to carry these, though the best prices on large quantities would probably be from suppliers like McMaster-Carr or Edmund Scientific or somebody.

I like to buy fridge magnets from museum gift shops - they're expensive, but they're cultural! Our current magnets are mostly excerpts from Salvador Dali paintings.

I was just in our local Ace Hardware, and they had a bunch of plain magnets - both plain metal, and colored-enamel-coated.

Make some! You can get an issue of Better Homes and Gardens or something and make the backing neutral and kind of pretty- clips of linens or flowers.

This thread is going in like, 10 different aesthetic directions. I like it!

I was gonna suggest the same thing kellydammit did.

I have all the supplies to do this myself (since October!) but have yet to do it.

isn't not martha the best? She doesn't do as many crafty posts lately, though. I miss those.
