Cannot connect to IRC Can any techie bunnies help me out? →[More:]I am using the MiFi 2200 through Verizon, and everything is working fine, except I cannot connect to IRC. I'm trying to get on #bunnies, and the connection just keeps timing out before I can connect. I'm using chatzilla, but tried mIRC with the same results. Verizon's tech support is useless...told me I should be having no problems.

firewall? ports on the router blocked?

I'm guessing you has blocked ports. Can you use the webclient/mibbit.com?

Definitely try mibbit.com first, twiggy. We have port 6667 (standard IRC) firewalled at work, and Mibbit connects fine.

Otherewise, try this:

Start -> Run -> CMD.exe -> Okay
then type "tracert irc.slashdot.org" -> Enter

Oh hey, I was having trouble tunneling past the blocked port myself, but Mibbit works like a charm! I'll be back!
