I love Bisquick (or whatever biscuit recipe) as the base for strawberry shortcake. I often make one giant biscuit and slice it in half, then bring it to parties with the berries and cream. People always rave about it and say "give me the recipe!" and call it "Miko's famous strawberry shortcake" and such.
The best part about Bisquick is you have to intentionally screw it up. Even if you leave the biscuits in the oven a few minutes too long, they just get a nice crispy outside while staying fluffy inside.
Oh nom! I will have to try these as an alternative to the usual shortcake, which I adore but which doesn't give me the excuse I need to boil and syrup my strawberries. I usually only make it when I'm at my parents', and my family is an impatient bunch who tell me to just crush the berries and get it to the table already. Thanks!
