Getting hammered on daiquiris and watching Fast Times at Ridgement High. Now it's not the first I've gotten hammered but it IS the first time I've seen Ridgemont. Holy shit! Jennifer Jason Leigh is totally... Um, later y'all.
Two words, man. Phoebe Cates.

Daquiris? Where'd you learn to drink, a sorority house?

My daiquiri recipe:

3 parts dark Myers Rum
1/2 part lime juice

Shake with ice. Strain. Slam. Repeat.

I should add that my cardiologist has advised me not to drink straight hard liquor.

Hence the lime juice?

I never liked her. She looked like the kind who'd go all wild and then cry after and totally harsh the buzz and make you drive her home while talking about her dad and then call you a week later saying how wonderful it was. Like she's hot and kinda cool but not worth the drama. Shit.

Jennifer Jason Leigh lived in the same building as a friend of mine in 1998/99. She got on the elevator with us, my friend said, "Hey, this is my friend Jen." I said, "Hi" and they talked for the remainder of the ride. When she got off he said, "That was Jennifer Jason Leigh."

She was very cute, nice and normal. Except that she looked my age and I was 18. Now that I am neither 18 nor look it I kind of hate her.

Follow Fast Times up with SWF for a nice sense of contrast.

When I used to deliver pizza in college (the late 80's), I wore a pair of checkered Vans along with my new-wave buttons and purple socks. Seriously. And a lot of people would say, "Whoa, dude, 'Fast Times At Ridgemont High'!"

And this was in Carrollton, GA. That movie combined with those shoes was probably the only reason I ever got any tips at all.

I remember her in The Best Little Girl in the World.

Any one read the Cameron Crowe book?

my fav line from that dorothy parker movie is when she tells her husband, "darling, dont be the town drunk . not in manhattan

I read the Crowe book years ago, in my junior high library--it's long-OOP, and hard to find, these days.

Much more ensemble-y than the movie (e.g., Charles Jefferson, the Forest Whittaker character in the movie, has a much bigger role in the book), and, to the best of my recollection, a little more raw or real or something to that effect.
