D'oh. Wikipedia link here.

Anyhoos, there are a significant number of postings on Tribe in this thread about 15+ year marriages that were entered into despite preexisting, unrequited obsessive infatuation with another person? And you're still posting about this on online forums? Crickey... but for the grace of God go I, I suppose.

Well, it's darn creepy that, despite the reliance on clinical language and convoluted, jargony acronyms, it looks like somebody ripped into my soul and predicted my every thought and feeling this past month and boiled it down to one word. So much for being a unique, tortured snowflake.

Often seems like we might both be limerent, impossible LDR and recent total life upheavals and all. Is there hope? What? limerent-limerent bonds are the least stable you say? Oh Dr. Tennov, how you tease.

Wow. That forum is creepy. Makes it sound like it's a bad thing. A disease. It's normal, Skwirl! Part of being human.

Thanks. That's a good alternate perspective, because I'm starting to buy the disease/addiction idea. Hanging in there alright.

The part that really chaps me is putting a label of "limerent object" on the other person. It's: a) dehumanizing and b) inventing a possessive relationship to feed the idea that you have a special bond with someone where you explicitly don't.

Anything that pegs my experience so specifically is hard to ignore, though.
