Quick question: do school kids in the UK still play rounders? Or is it entirely obsolete?
It's still played a lot at schools in the UK. I used to love playing rounders. I went to an all-girls school, and rounders was a big part of our PE lessons. It's still very much a girls' game - the rule for mixed teams is that there can be no more than five boys on the pitch at any one time (that's over both the batting and fielding teams, not per team, I think).

In the UK, the NRA has a whole different meaning ...

Thanks, Jan.

I went to an all-girls school too, and it was a big deal there, but that was a long time ago and I don't think I've heard anyone mention it at all since then.

Mixed school here, left 13 years ago: we played rounders. I have no reason to believe it's disappeared.

I hated it, but I was probably the exception.
