Why? Am I missing something?

It's just a bit cheesy, I think.

I was pretty appalled at the cover of the DVD Quick Change. Especially since they could have just used the movie poster, which was kinda cool.

Meanwhile - I really want to see that film. Lee Pace = TEH HOTT.

That is. An Awesome. Movie.

I loooved this movie. Highly recommend it. Not unlike Tarsem's first movie, The Cell, the script isn't great, but the little girl is genuinely adorable and it's so beautiful and visually eloquent it more than makes up for it.

It's better than the Cell cause it doesn't have Jennifer Lopez in it.

AND Lee Pace = TEH HOTT.

(does it need anything else??)

For me, the cover completely made sense after seeing the movie. Looking at it just now reminded me of a few parts of the story I had forgotten, which means that I find it endearing.

Visually, it was truly stunning - I do not recall previously ever having had my heart actually skip a beat at the sheer beauty or at a certain kind of vastness and scale that the director and DP managed to create with this movie. ecc said it best, "visually eloquent". On the other hand, I felt the script was *leagues* better than The Cell, but I do have a penchant for fantastical/magical realism, which frequently involves nonlinearity. YMMV.

It's also a good thing I didn't see this movie 10 years ago, because the little girl in the movie, Cantica Untaru, would have convinced me to begin having babies on the spot. With Lee Pace. Yeah, good stuff.

Actually the DVD commentary to The Cell is fascinating bit of movie history. Tarsem wanted to create something like Grand Opera bu the studio kept saying "No, you see you have to have a plot ..and Jennifer Lopez needs a nude scene...and you need a child in danger!" And Tarsem ends up losing his mind and spending the rest of his years making The Fall in some masochistic fuck-you to Hollywood.

(It tooks yeeears to create cause he demanded no CGI be used, so all the "fantasy" locations are real places on Earth. He even went as far as a full trip to Egypt to shoot 3 seconds of footage. YOu gotta respect that kind of crazy.)

I had mixed feelings about The Cell. The production design was so beautiful and I enjoyed Vincent D'Onofrio but everything else sucked. The story was trite and Lopez was a walking manikin.

I saw the DVD cover and wrote it off as a direct to video bit of tax shelter crap ala Uwe Boll. I am so sick of advertising and promotion that seems to have been done by some twat with knowledge of Photoshop cut and paste with a passing knowledge of masking. This is a truly heinous cover.

Still, with your recommendations I will buy it. I hope you don't let me down...

And again what a shitty bit of visual art that cover is.

Mmmmm... OK but not that great. I loves Magical Realism in books but this was OK. OK but not that good that I would want to see it a second time.
