I had a deeply strange experience recently. I was surfing YouTube when ... ...I come across a venue I know and a band I kinda know so I clicked on it. It's going okay until the chorus kicks in and one of the backup singers sounds EXACTLY LIKE ME. Not kind of like me, exactly like me. He even has a little talking part so I know it's not just singing style. I can't make him out but it's a similar build and hairstyle ...→[More:]

..and I start racking my brain for when I ever sang backup for this band. There is the very real possibly I did an entire show with a new band and forgot all about it.

Then he comes into the light and he's got a guitar and I don't play guitar so whew, Dickian moment over.

Is there a word for the sudden terror and depersonalizing feeling of seeing yourself do something you have no memory of?

Or do we just call those blackouts?

I seem to have a double (poor bastard) running around somewhere in my state. I've run into several people who swear they have met me before and have not. One person who knows me very well has seen this person and had to go up and check them not once but twice to make sure it was not me. Kind of freaky.

The phenomenon KoP describes used to happen to me all the time when I was between the ages of 13 and 17 - people would come up to me and think they had run in to me on the paintball course or at summer camp or whatever. Very odd.

Additionally, there was a girl at my high school who looked exactly like me from behind. It was very disorienting.)
