I worry about him more every time I hear him. What is he, having strokes or something else? He's smart, sure, but I'd like him to retire, honestly. He's like a goldfish, I have that fear that every time I hear him, it will be the last, to the point of creepy morbidity.
So while he is awesome for some, and it's cool that he twitters, I agree, he's too old for radio. Move on Daniel. Blog or something. I'll respect you more.
Am I a horrible pesron? Well that's a loaded question, but in this regard?
Too old? No wayy! Not long ago I expressed my amazement at the sheer volume of information he knew. It was when he was opining about Eisenhower's campaigning style, I think. I was all "GEeeeez...how does this guy know so much? Does he just read biography after biography?" It took me a while to wrap my head around just how old he was, how long his career has been, how he's covered just about every great personage and event of our time. His analysis of people is spot-on, and his ability to cut through our presentist mindset and put things into a much bigger perspective is priceless, to me. I adore him.
Somehow I agree with both rainbaby and Miko. He's not too old for radio, though. Then again, I don't really think there's such a thing as 'too old for radio.'
I have to agree with rainbaby. . .yeah he went mano a mano with Tricky Dick, but I don't hear too much content from him on NPR that I really see as original thinking. Scott Simon, when he opinionates, is much more incisive. Schorr seems to just reiterate what the rest of the chattering classes are saying.
And no you're not a horrible pesron. . .not that I know what a pesron is but I am certain you are horrible at nothing, including pesronhood.
