Weekend plans? [More:]
Yesterday I'd thought about going to a big outdoor market this morning that's held on an airfield, but when I drew back the curtains and saw the rain and wind, and realised how cold it is, I decided to pass.

But I want to go out somewhere, so I'll have another coffee, have a good breakfast and give it a little more thought. I might drive up to Crews Hill and buy some herbs to plant up in my planters. The thyme from last year is starting to grow but it's a bit woody. I also need some new mint (which I always grow in a container by itself, or it takes over) and a pot of basil for the window sill.

I have all the ingredients to make this, so I think this will be my Sunday lunch, with lots left over for a couple of days.

How about you? What are your plans?
Going to see Watchmen at the London IMAX this afternoon. Just hope the G20 protestors don't get the Tubes shut down... seems OK so far.

Hubby and I are heading off to wine country for a few days to unwind. The aim is to fill the boot of the car with good plonk, chocolate and cheese and then try not to consume it all on the way home.

Essexjan: your proposed lunch sounds divine! Yay for garlic!!

Unabashed laziness, those are my plans. It's good for my psyche.

essexjan should start a cookbook.

Working on the garage: finishing a section of the shelving units and if it's not raining, patching the roof.

Gym, radio station premiere this Sunday. I'd like to get to the beach but the weather is not cooperating.

Went out to the bar last night with a couple of friends to watch a basketball game. Need to do taxes but am very tired after staying up way too late. Going to mediareport's to watch a movie with some of his friends tonight. Need to do laundry.

Shot clinic for the dog, T-ball practice, movies, cleaning, piano practicing, visiting my parents, more cleaning, more practicing.

Gotham Girls Roller Derby, a six-year old's birthday party, and NCAA women's basketball, all today, and then perhaps a trip to Riis beach with the beagle, laundry, and scrabble tomorrow.

Quite suddenly, my weekend plans involve removing and probably replacing the antique doorknobs to our bathroom, which suddenly disconnected from the latch last night. Wish me luck!

Get my hair cut and then go to a wedding. I love weddings!

I painted my nails bright red yesterday, and last night I had dream after dream that involved some Nail Catastrophe that ruined the polish. It was sort of funny after awhile.

Yardwork and gardening. Lots of it. Oh, and thinking of creative uses for the bag of potatoes I scored at the store yesterday. FIVE POUNDS FOR $.97!!!!

I am so unbelievable thrilled about this bag of potatoes. I forgot to tell my mom about it last night, so I called her back after we hung up. She laughed hysterically at me. Not because of the potatoes, but because I actually called her back to tell her about them. But hey! With this bag of potatoes, and all the free eggs from the chickens, this means that I don't have to buy food between now and payday, and that's very exciting!

Going to a birthday party for the friend of a friend tonight. We hardly ever do social stuff like this, so I'm looking forward to it.

Other than that, no real plans. It's rainy and stormy out, so we'll probably stay close to home.

Oooooh. mudpuppie: make yourself a tortilla de patatas. I recommend onions as flavoring.

The cold snap has delayed the kids' garden, so I'll do the chores I put off last time - taking old toys and clothes to charity, maybe get their floor tiles down finally.

Other than that, it's my night off, and I'm trying to decide if I want to get Dr. Zhivago. The ladies at the office were aghast that I'd never seen it.

Soo, dinner for one tonight, with take out Italian and maybe a nice beer.

Any good movie suggestions? I never thought I'd say it, but I'm kind of Kill Bill'd out.

Elizard and I are going to have a late lunch at Five Guys Burgers & Fries, because we keep hearing about how awesome their French fries are.

Might see Coraline. Might not. Ought to pay some bills, straighten up my office. Probably won't.

Tomorrow: PANCAKES. YUM.

I'm opting for abashed laziness, then Shakespeare.

Just thinking about Five Guys on Fayette St. in Alexandria makes my chin drip with slaver.

I went to one in Brooklyn that wasn't quite the same, though to be fair it'd only been open a couple weeks and the staff was obviously working out the kinks in a new line.

My sister-in-law taught my youngest nephew, now a little over a year old, to sign for more. On his first trip to the Fayette St. Five Guys, though he filled his mouth to bursting with burger and fry, he never stopped tapping his fingers across his chest.

I'm hanging with my mum this weekend which is a bit bittersweet as she is up for the memorial of an old family friend (and also I'm missing this show which is killing my soul). But on Sunday we are going to one of my favorite restaurants and then this show, which will be good times.

Show last night, closing performance tonight. Ran a 10K this morning - first 4 miles in 40 minutes, then straggled in at about an hour ten. Completed Tax appointment, complete with time mix up drama. Passed a pregnacy test (negative). Wathching NCAA tourney, I'm still in a position to Win Money! A very busy one.

Oh joy, required for strike tomorrow morning at ten in the morning. No cast party for me.

Busy and crazy, but any day I muster up for a race event, which I don't do often, is really a good day. Plus the gambling.

I know this isn't what you mean, but this checklist just flashed up:

required for strike tomorrow morning

[ ] greedy and/or recalcitrant management
[ ] aggrieved workers
[ ] union organization
[ ] 24-hour newscasts

Finally managed to get the right combination of van, trailer full of stuff, right-sized hitch, and my nephew being available to take two loads of stuff to the dump. The city is starting to do proactive inspections in our neighborhood so we'd likely get dinged for too much crap sitting around (we probably will anyway, my dad's mismanagement of the property is palpable in every way, but at least now we're two loads closer to the goal).

Just in time, too, because we might get Eight. Inches. of Snow. And the river is already at flood stage (nothing like Fargo, thank God).

Made sure at least one of my parents' insurance accounts is paid up to date and on automatic payments again. Did discover that there may be two life insurance accounts closed, gotta find out what the redemption period is on those.

My dad is still buying alcohol at a neighborhood store. He had a receipt that said BEER (it's itty bitty wine bottles) and he marked over it SODA. Unclear whether this is subterfuge on his part or just loss of semantic ability. He has also been bugging a tenant for money, even entering their apartment without knocking.

We swapped couches on my Dad last night. He's been sleeping on a once very-nice 1920s sofa that now looks like it exploded in Toon Town. He said he hadn't noticed anything wrong with it. The new sofa without collapsed springs or missing cushions is "painful" to him and he said "my ears got wet", which turns out to mean he cried. And earlier this week I found out he was trying to treat his diabetic neuropathy by filling the bathroom sink (while waiting for a timer! how could that go wrong) and standing on the toilet to stick his foot in.

Just got back from a wedding. It was beautiful, traditional, elegant, yet simple. A great way to start a marriage.

We are having renovations done on our church, and I was told the last of the carpeting went down the afternoon before the wedding. Wow, that was close.

This morning at the shot clinic, my dog ripped up the vet's forearms as he was attempting to give my dog her yearly vaccines. It looked like Freddy Krueger attacked. She is sweet as can be but scared when cornered. I was so envious of the other dogs that just walked right up and got their shot like it was nothing.

It was quite the scene. The shot clinic was being held in front of the police station/fire station. I noticed the bloody arms and said, "Dr. ____, your arms. I am so sorry." He said he hadn't noticed until I said something. The animal control people that worked for the city went inside to fetch a paramedic to tend to the scratches, which I thought was a bit overboard. I was a little embarrassed to say the least. Then one of the animal control people said to me, "Uh, we're going to have to get your information because of this." I kind of looked at him as if to say, "you've got to be kidding." They were bleeding but superficial. Then he said, "Uh, where do you live?" I kindly gave my info and registered her with the city. I will not be doing one of these clinics again. I'll go to the vet and pay the 175 bucks versus 30 that I paid today.

We're going to board her for two nights in April and I am so nervous about it.
