17 March 2009

Three-point Tuesday update, BAD/GOOD/TRIVIAL edition [More:]1. Mr alto finds out tomorrow whether he still has a job or not. BAD (but potentially GOOD).

2. New ISP is teh awesome - I have a 10GB usage allowance, and thought I exceeded it, but it turns out that usage between midnight and 8am doesn't count. GOOD.

3. Unusually hungry today. TRIVIAL.
1. Came home from a weekend trip to find my PC had died, apparently from a fried motherboard: BAD.

2. Had a really, really fun weekend in Las Vegas, which included seeing some good friends tie the knot: GOOD.

3. I really want another day off, though. TRIVIAL.

1. Already I am sick of potatoes. (BAD)

2. But my visits to the bathroom are less frequent than this morning. (GOOD)

3. I wish I could get out more and enjoy the lovely weather, but for the time being, I can't. (TRIVIAL)

Who's your new ISP, alto?

Like three days out of five, I am bubbling with anxiety/ It makes everything harder. This is the second time I've asked here, but would really appreciate if someone had a psychological pain chart or guideline that would tell me how much I am supposed just to put up with and how much I should take to doc's.

We may have a venue for the big event mid april.

I have one third battery pack left on this mac.

1. Life has been stressful lately (bad)
2. Dad feels (and sounds) much better. He'll be out of the hospital on Thursday (good)
3. Having a hard time deciding where to take visiting friend to dinner (Sri Lankan, Sushi or ...) (trivial)

1. There's so many bad things, I don't know where to start. I guess the worst thing right now is that I've caught a cold and am feeling lousy. BAD.

2. I thought of skipping this one, as it seemed to me that nothing good had happened in the past few days. But this is actually not true. Just to name one thing - a book I've been reading for the past few days has made some things "click" together for me. It's much more clear to me now where (and why) I'm heading with my research. Definitely GOOD.

3. It's been snowing all day, but given the present state of my health, it doesn't make any difference, so this is TRIVIAL.

1. Jan is still sick and I'm still unemployed -- BAD

2. Didn't win any prizes at the Spelling Bee last night, but the second place winner gave me the $15 bar tab he won because he'd already had enough to drink -- GOOD

3. My hair is greasy -- TRIVIAL

plusnet, ej - £5.99 a month for their basic package, if you live in an area in which it's available, when I was transferring over, they rang me to advise when each step of the process was complete, and their support staff appear to know what they are doing, unlike tiscali's

1. I'm still trying to pull myself out of a six week depressive episode. I fucking hate that I don't realize these things until the end. BAD.

2. Lots of sun this week and I just happen to be on vacation. The kids are being pretty good, for being the age they are. GOOD.

3. My bouncy ball (today's project) isn't completely round. There weren't enough crystals to get into the mold. The boys have already lost theirs in their room - we'll find them when we go to clean. TRIVIAL.

1. Found out that I will be working more Saturdays than originally planned because usual Saturday girl has to work her main job on Saturdays. BAD.
2. I HAVE a job, and they are pretty flexible with the schedule overall. GOOD.
3. I wish my family wouldn't eat all the good stuff up so quick so I have to spend my days off cooking ahead and shopping all the stinking time. Trivial.

1. Have to work until probably almost 10 tonight - lecture, etc. - and if that weren't enough I feel a bit sniffly and scratchy again, argh. BAD

2. Going to see the Mountain Goats tomorrow night. GOOD

3. Cow-orker tattled on me to boss for something I didn't even do. Ey yi yi. TRIVIAL.

1. As if losing my mom last month (was it really a month ago?) wasn't enough, my great uncle, the Chicago corrections officer who taught me to play ping pong, passed away last week, age 97.

2. Before I go back up to New York on Thursday, my dad and I are going down tomorrow to DC for museums and Virginia to see my nephews; now the six-year old is into pirates and the one-year old is into his grandpa.

3. Holy crow! I just remembered I made an appointment at the dentist's for this afternoon.

1a. Senator wasn't eating when I left this morning and he bled a little last night after his neutering. I might have to bring him back to the vet (BAD)
1b. Freelancer just dropped out right before a big project is gearing up and now I have to find a new one with the same very hard to find skill set. Finding freelancers seems harder than just doing the thing myself (BAD)
2. Senator is alive and slept with me in bed last night (GOOD)
3. I burnt the granola I've been wanting to make for about a month (DISAPPOINTING BUT TRIVIAL)
posted by rmless2 17 March | 11:44
1. My depression has been feeling existential lately (instead of the usual "condition to be managed") -- BADish

2. A project at work that I've been hating hating hating for six months ends on Thursday -- GOOD

3. I need to go to the dentist for my cleaning -- TRIVIALish

Mythgothlaundry: cow-orker, that's great! I'm going to remember that.

Gracie: alas, the very nature of your issues means that your pain guideline or chart will vary from day to day. Your brain decides each morning how it's going to feel, whether you agree with it or not.

1. I'm briefly back on the diet to get back to pre-holidays weight, and my tongue is panting for bacon, pizza, and Burger King sausage biscuits. Which they didn't have at the airport the other day. BAD

2. To write about a device for work, I've just taken my own blood pressure 9 times in the past hour. 127/81. GOOD

3. My meeting tonight was canceled, so I get to go home and catch up on my instrument-playing. TRIVIAL

I had a look at plusnet, as a result of which I called my ISP and got my price down to £11 a month. If I was to go to plusnet, I'd only be on £5.99 a month for 3 months, and then it'd go up to £11.99 (because I'm outside the area where you get £5.99 for life). I never use anything close to 10GB a month as I don't torrent or game.

"Burger King sausage biscuits" - I had one of those a couple weeks ago. They ARE good, and I'm living in the heart breakfast biscuit country.

Good: The cardio-rehab staff really has its act together; they know when to push and when to back off. A positive side effect is my getting up at 7:30 even on non-workout mornings.

Bad: A little number known as 'protein to calories ratio' eliminated any plans I had to try a vegan lifestyle.

Trivial: Knowing I will be stuck in SC for another 10 weeks was more than enough an excuse to start up Netflix again.

1. We can't afford a roofer right now so I'm going to have to tar up the leaks in the garage room myself. It's only 15 feet up but I hate roofing. (BAD)

2. Mrs O and I have been to the Gym first thing in the morning every other day for two weeks

3. Frustrated at the lack of email access at work. Might have to buy an Env2 phone which has built in IMAP so that I can get to my gmail acount (trivial)

Bad: Excessive amounts of freaking out have been occuring due to a potential second date occuring this weekend, my brother's birthday (which equals all family members in one room for more than 5 minutes and therefore leads to DRAMA), and hopefully hearing from UMD about Library Science school.

Good: My projects from work are moving forward, if it is leading to me smacking my head against the wall when things still aren't working the way they are supposed to. Forward progress is a good thing. Maybe.

Trivial: My moods have been all over the goddamn map this week, whereas last week I was all hyper-focusing. I have no idea what the hell is up with that and is something I will have to spend some time over-analyzing.

I have to go for a scary health test today (BAD) and the bf is not being supportive (BAD).

My friends IRL and online are all being super cool and very supportive (GOOD).

I'm not allowed to drink coffee this morning because of the test, and I want it just because I can't have it (TRIVIAL).

Bad: Standard career stuff.
Good: Skied down the whole mountain without falling or being out of control this weekend.
Trivial: Hangnail.

1. The shower runs either blisteringly hot or absolutely arctic, and it costs lots of money to fix this. (BAD)

2. The boy and I are both gainfully employed and have a place to grow lost of vegetables and herbs. (GOOD)

3. Today I had fun wearing a tight pencil skirt with fishnets and teetery heels. (TRIVIAL)

2. got some fabric for my new etsy corset shop (good)

2. I've got tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters tonight with my kids! - GOOD!

3. I need to rake the yard and do spring cleanup - TRIVIAL

1. Realized my Credit Card was missing and freaked out. Husband had no idea but convinced I left it at home. No bad charges as far as I can tell, thank gads. Because I'm such a paranoid loser, I canceled the card and had them reissue everything (including account number). I'm still not over it. (BAD)

2. We desperately need a kitchen island for the portable apartment dishwasher. I found a red on on sale! (Good)

3. I'm not going to check my voice mail today either. I don't care how many messages pile up. I hate voicemail and will not be getting to your question today. I also will not be returning any voicemail calls on my cell phone. All voicemail sucks until it's someone singing you happy birthday or telling you that they love you. (Trivial)

Good: I started dating a woman who's both smart and sexy. I can't mention this to my friends, so I guess I'll tell you guys: she said that I'm the best lover she's ever had.

Bad: Someone attempted to steal my vehicle. It's now in the repair shop.

Trivial: I didn't go snowboarding/gambling today.

Always good: Volunteered this morning with some sweet kids. Having a great day with the family and the weather is gorgeous.

Bad: I can't think of anything. I guess it's bad that my filthy animal of a dog sat on my blue chairs with her muddy paws. I was cleaning them this afternoon and jokingly cried out to my sister: "I can't do it all! I can't do it all!" If I had any brain cells I would put old quilts on stuff that I felt needed to be protected or train the dog not to sit on my furniture. I really can't keep it all together even if I really tried.

Trivial: I'm about to go run/walk.

Update to update...

1) Spent several hours with Neighborhood Kid who invited my boys to the park with him. Good that the kids are getting a social life (in context of my social anxiety disorder and upbringing this is a Big Thing). I ended up stalking them a little, but nobody came to serious harm. GOOD.

2) House is messy as hell because I was out. I'm sore from a spill I took yesterday. BAD.

3) I may have a sunburn from my stalking. trivial.

1. We have five rentable apartments. Of these only two have tenants. Of the three empties, only one is close to being clean enough to show.

1a. Of the two tenants, one has three adults, one of whom just lost a key job.

1b. Of the other, the husband hasn't worked for a year. The wife just waffled and tried to lie to us about when she last paid my Dad. For all we knew they were up to date, but I'll have to go through everything last year to determine what and if they paid.

1c. Getting to within one month of foreclosure proceedings meaning bankruptcy needs to be filed asap. Fun!

2. My mom has let me know that people are flirting with her. (She's 71.) It's not that I'm not OK with that, I'd just rather not be hearing about the mash notes.

3. Nice warm 70s day here (50 tomorrow). And with spring comes ... drug dealers! Yes, a fellow was prancing about in our intersection for about two ours cutting deals. I guess we're zoned "bidness"!

Bad: My department is moving across the river to what are likely to be even more cramped quarters, doubling (at least) my commute, and increasing the cost of parking. Leaving a boss I actually like. More work, plus training a host of new people, something which (in the context of this job) I hate with a passion. And probably, once the cross-training ends, layoffs of the weakest will follow.

Good: ...but I still have a job, for now, and it pays my current bills plus some of my old ones each month. If my boss can give me a good reference, I have a shot at moving into something other than customer service.

Trivial: I has a tin of corned beef, and am going to fry it up with cabbage and potatoes for my dinner. This makes me happy.

Bad: there's still some tension with the housemate, and I'm frustrated at not finding a house yet. Oh, and the internets were down at work all day.

Good: I got my performance eval paperwork back today, and it's good. Meeting's tomorrow.

Trivial: I found a green shirt to wear today.

My deceased little sister's birthday was last week and I sent my mother some flowers. Couldn't get ahold of her until today, and my dad answered the phone. Completely drunk off his ass and blubbering. (BAD)

I look great in green. And in pencil skirts with heels. And the sunshine is so warm through my windows. (GOOD)

My accounting class starts in 20 minutes, and there is wifi on campus, letting me access the MeChas. (not-quite-TRIVIAL)

Today I skipped my Enbrel shot, which I also skipped yesterday. This pattern also occurred last week. (BAD)

Today I got together with Be The Change Seacoast about an upcoming event this week where I get to be the media spokesperson and they are using my direct quotes to attach to their press release. (GOOD)

Today I did a light leg routine because I just wasn't that into going back to the gym, but made up for it by extra ab work and shoulders stuff. (TOTALLY TRIVIAL)

1. Am keeping myself busy and organised. Saw a counsellor today, and have an appointment with a career advisor next week. I'm feeling generally pretty upbeat, but not at all, at the same time (Good? Bad? who can tell?)

2. I bought a new book by my favourite author. I'm looking forward to reading it. (Good but more like my trivial)

3. I have to stop my singing lessons tonight. This makes me very sad. But until I find a new job I just can't afford it (Bad)

Bad: It's been 48 hours since I let the rat people know I was ready for the next step (house visit). House visit person hasn't contacted me.

Good: I got a haircut yesterday (went for a bob, came out with lots of layers) and it looks awesome.

Trivial: My Mefi post went well.
