The MetaChat Movie Channel: Imagine we've been given our own cable TV channel, for showing old movies and TV shows. Your job is to program one 24-hour block; what will we see? [More:] Assume we're a commercial-free channel, and you can round off movies to 2 hours, 90 minutes, whatever you like. TV dramas are generally 1 hour, sitcoms 30 minutes.

You can think of the day in segments, try to build kind of a "flow" through your day, or be totally random and just hope to catch the channel-surfers.
I'd start the day with a couple of kid-friendly classics:

6 AM: "The Wizard Of Oz"
8 AM: "101 Dalmatians" (the original, animated one)

then some comedy:

10 AM: Jacques Tati's "Mon Oncle"
Noon: "Best In Show"

For the afternoon, a trio of noir-ish films:

2 PM: "House of Games"
4 PM: "The Honeymoon Killers"
6 PM: "Touch of Evil"

Foreign films for prime time:

8 PM: "Drowning By Numbers"
10 PM: "Week-End"

That last one leads nicely into a mini film-fest of motorized movies, starting at midnight:

12 AM: "Death Race 2000" (the original of course)
2 AM: "Vanishing Point"
4 AM: "Two-Lane Blacktop"

Bringing us back to 6 AM, when someone else takes over. :)

OK BP you included two of my top ten favourite movies (Touch of Evil and Best in Show) in your programming, so I think I'll just stick with yours.

I'd show all of Berlin Alexanderplatz - with a couple of breaks during the day for meals, etc.

Oh boy! Well, we can just go through my last couple of weekends!

12 midnight 6am - Godzilla movies

8am-12 noon - Weird Al Show

This gave me a good excuse to go through my imdb voting history and make a few modifications. I hadn't done that for a few years.
