Count stuff. It sounds really dumb and kind of is, but I saw Isaac Asimov on a talkshow once, and he said that when he was really bored and waiting for something, he counted stuff in his environment. And it kinda stuck with me. How many ceiling tiles are there? How many chairs? How many armrests? How many monitors? How many monitors if you include their reflections in windows? How many ceiling tiles if you had more windows?

I am a fan of trying to navigate my way to famous landmarks in Google Maps satellite view, with labels off, starting from my hometown. Stonehenge. Uluru. Anak Krakatoa. Vesuvius. Palmyra. The Odessa Steps (although they don't look very steplike, unfortunately). The Pyramids. There are also some fascinating* small ruins in the Gobi desert, but I'm not sure what they are precisely.

I definitely get this. In one week, I get about 10 days away from the job and the kids and mostly to myself. I can't wait! Thank goodness for spring break.
