AskMecha: Any suggestions on a good way to merge multiple MP3s into one single MP3? I want to post a few mix discs as a single downloadable (or streamable) file, but I can't figure out how. →[More:] I missed out on RadioMacha since I didn't have any of my music in MP3 format, but now that I've converted part of my CD collection to MP3 (18,000 songs so far) I'd like to do something similar. I continually make mixes and I'd love to let some other people hear a few of them, but I'd rather make it one continuous mix rather than 20-30 individual MP3 files. This should be easy, right?

I could have sworn that someone here posted a streamable mix here last year, but I don't remember the specifics.

My first thought was something simple like this. I don't have time right now to verify that it works though...

That method seems to work in that it produces an mp3 file playable in winamp, vlc, and media player. But the apps don't read the id tags as the new songs start. Also the elapsed/total time doesn't display right, probably because of different bit rates across songs.

mp3DirectCut and Audacity. both work well. If you join them then you will lose all of your ID3 information. You can also use Divshare to share a playlist. If you put a group of songs in a folder you can set up a playlist order and when people go to the folder it plays in order or they can pick and chose if they want to.
