The Rolling Stones

Yes on pretty much everything so far, except for the artist that kat allison provided for #1, which doctor negative corrected. I think, also, that eatdonuts means #8 for that #9?

Suffice it say that #1 is The Rolling Stones' Ruby Tuesday, and #8 is David Bowie's Oh You Pretty things

#10 Liz Phair - Johnny Sunshine?

#10 is Liz Phair, as both kat and rainbaby have suggested. It's also, however, one of those songs with the title that isn't part of the chorus, or heck even mentioned in the song. I hadn't realized that...I just went for a nice, recognizable lyric! It's called Dance Of The Seven Veils!

#3 Bruce Springsteen, Atlantic City

yes, sorry, #8!

I got five right away, and the other five don't even remotely sound familiar. I love that lyric in #6 (I googled it because I just had to know right away who wrote it).

Heh, slack, I know that feeling!

And, yup Jan, you got that one.

We're left with:
#2 - I've learned to hate Russians, all through my whole life
#6 - You can walk on the water, drown in the sand
#7 - I never looked at her this way before but now she's all I see

I'll hold off a bit before I cough up more hints.

I got all excited, because I thought old stuff meant stuff I would know, but nope. You guys rock, though.

And yup...#6 is right.

#2 is a song...by a guy that the group in #6 were known to hang around with. And older one of his...

Goshdarnit, I was just about to say 'With God on Our Side.'

But I can't think for ya--you'll have to decide/
Whether Judas Iscariot had God on his side.
