What are you doing for Valentine's Day? With apologies to the single-but-don't-want-to-be folks.→[More:]I really, really wish I could afford a getaway weekend. But it will most likely involve a nice dinner at home and um, newlywed stuff.
We're making fondue at home! For the past two years, we've done the White Castle Valentine's, but we had White Castle back in August and the thought of going again so soon makes me sick. Once a year is my limit, I guess!
We can't afford to go out, but we're quite happy to stay in. We're going to do a trial run of the meal we've volunteered to cook for TheDonF's dad for his birthday: stuffed cannelloni, steak with mushroom and thyme sauce, various veggies, and raspberry torte. And wine. And there will be smooching.
Working my little fluffy buns off selling flowers to all the guys who waited till the last minute...(did I mention my boss casually mentioned we were getting over 50,000 stems of flowers in over the next two days???)
We're going to be up in Tacoma visiting scodyboy's family, and so are getting together with Matildaben and her SO on Saturday for a day at the Tacoma Art Museum. My birthday's the next day, so we'll probably go out to dinner Sunday night.
Meh, for all my smushy, smoochyface loveloveloveness, I really like to keep St. Valentine's Day pretty low-key. The Fella reported with a comically long face that he'll be working all night on the 14th, and I shrugged. I'd much rather not go out on a Valentine's date on Saturday night. Breakfast at home will do me fine.
Of course, my partner doesn't know that on the 13th, we're going to a surprise party in his honor, so he'll get some celebrating, whether he knows it or not.
My late partner/best friend and I had a standing Valentine's date every year, whether we were romantically involved or not at the time: every year, we got dressed up and went out to dinner, sat in silence holding hands across the table... and eavesdropped on all the couples fighting because their evenings were not Absolutely Perfect. Yes, we were small, bad, sick people.
