If Martha Stewart lived in Northern Michigan. You've heard of tuna melts and patty melts; why not squirrel melts? From the Huntress TV show that appeared on The Outdoor Channel.
I remember George telling me when he was a kid that squirrel and rabbit were often all they had to eat (George's dad died at 41, leaving his mum with four kids under 11 to raise, as well as run a farm. Life was tough.) When I visited the farm there was usually a pack or two of skwerl in the freezer. I cooked a stew with it once, and it was pretty good.

I am a meat hypocrite. If it doesn't look like a cute, fwuffy widdle skwerl I'll happily eat it. But I couldn't kill or skin an animal myself.

As I often say, my grandparents ate squirrel so I wouldn't have to.
