I found a page in French that explains what happened. Her mother did not have enough milk and the baby was getting weak, so they decided to feed her by hand. She is very rare indeed: the next youngest Madagascar Lemur is 9 years old, so they did not want to risk losing her. She gets to spend two hours a day with her real mother.

omg... yes. Wow. The teddy bear photo kills. But here's a question: that does not actually look like a teddy bear, but a teddy lemur, yes? I wonder where they found that.

I love that last picture where the lemur has this "thank you for taking care of me" look on its face.

I saw this story in the Metro on the way to work this morning and nearly went "Eeeeeee!" out loud on the train.
