Dean and Company have been making "family-friendly TV" on local cable in Birmingham, Alabama for thirty years or so, and they haven't gotten any better at it. Now they have a deeply weird and annoying website. Caution: do not visit The Time Warp. You have been warned. (Flash, intensely painful audio, forced jocularity, creepy family photographs, howlingly bad original music and choreography. May contain home-made hand puppets and Jean Harlow's stand-in.)
Yes, this is a "Look at how awful this is!" post.

Incredible.

It looks like some kind of put-on done by "Adult Swim" or something.

I love the way they left the Final Cut Pro countdown at the beginning of all their vids. Heh.

Sort of makes me think of HBO's Carnivāle.

Is it wrong that I love this?

Ok, I was warned. I looked, I don't regret it. What I loved was the "where you goin'?" that popped up any time you wanted to leave the screen.

The hair was scary. The blush was right out of Mary Kay. It was glorious.

Is that dog-headed chicken bleeding oil?

Funny thing is, the web site ACCURATELY RECAPTURES the dream-like, creeping terror that I would feel while watching this show stoned in high school.

I'm thinking this is worthy of the blue. What do y'all think?

I didn't really dig into the site, but I liked the front page. It was creepy in a good way.

Dig, deborah, dig. It gets much, much worse.

I say go for it. These folks are pre-internet weird, which is the best weird of all.

(I still don't quite get exactly what this is. But that's probably for the best.)
