An Unbelievably Graceful Gesture From the President-Elect... [More:]

I received a 4 x 6" color photograph in the mail today of Barack and Michelle Obama and Big Joe Biden at the Grant Park nomination party. This photo had been turned into a postcard thanking me personally for my effort in getting them elected and had been signed by Barack and Michelle.

I can't express how much I'm impressed by this - a Presidential staff that takes the time to send out a full color glossy postcard to their supporters just to thank them for their help. Did I mention it's signed?

I am almost moved to tears over this (yes, I'm THAT much of a goddamned schmoop). We are good hands now, folks - gracious, caring hands.

Anyone else get something like this in the mail today? I hope so. Share your feelings on it if you like as well.

I got mine a while ago. It's hanging on the cord with my Grant Park credentials.

I have one. It's proudly displayed with the Metachat holiday cards on the mantle.

I gave him almost a thousand bucks and I haven't gotten a thing except the growing sense of dread at watching his really terrible cabinet nominations.

I guess he likes you more.

He does, Cmonkey.

On the back of my postcard (it's totally AWESOME, by the way), it says "Cmonkey's a little bitch. I like you more. - Love, Barack."

Not to be a killjoy but as someone who has mostly worked in sales or sales related jobs this just sounds like SOP.

I got one. Mine also has Jill Biden on it. Maybe because I are woman? Anyway, for now I'm saving it. I'm reminded of my older neighbors when I was a kid. They must have been in their sixties when I was born, and as we all got older (me, six? them, early seventies?) they loved me to stop by with picked dandelions or whatnot for a proper old timey visit. Sitting and chatting, and sending me off with pickles or produce or a figurine or something. They had actual real and true and original FDR memorabelia in their kitchen.

Mrs. W called her husband "it." His name was Ed and that's what everyone assumed she was saying, but she confided in me that no, she was really saying "it." She was really cool.

It is SOP in sales, arse_hat, but it is a new thing in politics. the White House will always send you a Christmas Card if you send them one, and if you were a large donor you might have gotten one depending on the candidate, but never before have so many people been included in the mailing.

It feels nice, especially because we busted ass for these guys.

Not only that, Arse-hat, but the manner is which it was done was what got me. This is a genuine photo that someone spent the time to turn into a postcard. Full color, 4" x 6".

Pricey, I'd imagine, when you realize how many hundreds of people have already gotten one.

This is one time when the adage, "it's the thought that counts" is actually expressed in a rather lovely way in my opinion.

I mean, hey, it's not like their team doesn't have more intense topics to occupy their time these days.
