Now this is neat Custom fabric! Make the image, upload it, and for $18 a yard they send it out to you. ($18 a yard is not unreasonable in fabric shopping land).
They say it's Kona cotton, which is pretty nice stuff, too. Certainty quilt-friendly, but generally heavy enough to make clothes from, too. I really want a crazy over the top constructivist skirt. Like, a row of lenins dancing on the hem over the top.
Oh, man! Do you know how much I would love to do this? Very, very much, that's how much. But shipping to Greece would be too expensive... if they even agreed to ship to Greece.
But I want to make a design for someone here sometime.
This is pretty cool - I can see this being a great service for quilters (my mom spent weeks and weeks trying to find the right typeface fabric for a quilt se was working on). Also, looking at the "recent fabric designs" - Fractals!
It said somewhere on their blog that they're discontinuing the Kona cotton for some kind of broadcloth, though they did say they were sure customers would be happy with the change.
I seriously have been mulling over what I could do with this service, and though I haven't come up with anything totally mega super awesome YET, I do plan to. I must. Not taking advantage of this opportunity would be a crime!
Damn, I have never loved POD services so much! If this is the kind of thing the industry is going to move into, I'm totally a fan now.
I'm actually going to school for this kind of thing in January!! I'll be the coolest kid in class when I actually SHOW UP in the fabric patterns I created!!!
