Goodbye, Sadie. Thanks to all of you who sent the good vibes to my cat. They had power, but we had to let her go today. →[More:]The tooth wasn't the whole story, as we kind of feared. She recovered a little from the mouth pain, but at the same time, something else was going on inside her that was causing her to weaken and waste away - probably cancer. Last night she was very sweet and loving, but so weak I had to carry her to the litterbox and to bed. This morning we had a vet appointment, and seemed to be saying it was time. Any more syringe-feeding, injections, exploratory surgeries, or meds would have been such a hardship on her.

Doesn't make it any easier. I'll really miss her. She had a lot of sass, dignity, and self-possesion.

But thanks to all of you, great pet-lovers that you are. Give your furry ones a nice hug today!

This royally sucks. Our beloved pets really are cherished members of the family, I freely admit that I've wept for them the way I wept for family members. I don't think it's wrong at all, they're our friends, human or not the emotional bond is there, and it's a beautiful thing.

Miko - I'm so sorry for you. A few weeks ago we had to say goodbye to Chinaski, who was part of our family for 13 years. It's never easy and I feel for you.

This is horrible. I loved Sadie a ton.

I know it sounds mawkish and trite, but Sadie wasn't just your average housecat. It was like living with Bette Davis or Auntie Mame.

I've had tears in my eyes all damn morning. And I want her back.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sadie. I still remember what it was like when my kitty Hunter had cancer a few years ago, so my heart goes out to you. I still have a framed photo of him on my dresser...maybe frame one of the lovely photos you posted of Sadie as a memorial?

I am so sorry Sadie's story has ended, Miko and LT. What a great life she had with you; I hope all the good memories will outweigh the pain. It sucks to have to make that decision for our pets, but you did the best thing for her. Huge hugs to both of you.
