Voting and Free Stuff (Starbucks, Ben & Jerry's)

Krispy Kreme is giving a free donut to voters, and Shane's Rib Shack (locations all over) is giving a free meal of chicken tenders, fries and a coke. You could practically eat free all day.

Except that I voted early and they had run out of stickers long before I showed up.

It doesn't sound any different out loud (I hear comments aloud in my head anyway), and lots of people write and say nonsense like that intentionally. It sounds like "I'm saying 'certainly' but you're not supposed to think I actually mean 'certainly'".

I'm starting the sentence with confidence and knee-jerk approval, then growing slightly more doubtful, and ending warily.
