I got about 3/4s through his autobiography before I lost it. The book, that is. He's great. I'm looking forward to finding another copy and finishing it someday.
Love Dick Cavett. I wish he'd go back on TV. What about the slot right after Colbert? That'd be perfect!
He talks about language - McCain's "pundints" got to me, too, though I only heard it once so I thought it might've been a slip. I guess not. But the one that bothers me most is Palin's "verbage." It's verbIage!
With Obama, the only verbal tic I hear him doing is ending some words like "opportunity" and "community" with "-eh." "Opportuniteh!" "Communiteh!"
It was a little chatty and unfocused, but I liked the bit toward the end where he asked why McCain was deriding the idea of a President taking a 3 a.m. phone call and ... thinking and analyzing.
That's it in a nutshell! I tend to be an impatient reader. I have no problem with watching Dick Cavett interview someone, but I couldn't read the article for precisely that reason.
The same is true, by the way, of Garrison Keillor. I can listen to Prairie Home Companion, but I just can't read his writing.
