Good news/more good news So you know how I was all worried about my son driving across town to volunteer for a political party for a school assignment? Well he made it there and home, unscathed. Yay!

And... he enjoyed his time at the Tarrant County Democratic Party. They even said they may be able to give him a paying job! Yay! YAY!
YAY YAY YAY!

That is a great story. I'm glad he's excited - glad he's doing something so important - and glad he's safe!

very cool. a friend of mine interned at Senator Moynihan's office in high school, he talked about how great it was for years after the fact.

That's pretty neat, doohickie. I'm glad he's home, safe and sound.

I wish I could trust his driving more, but he scares the hell outta me.

Probably because he drives like I do.

Well he's not actually had the best driving history if I recall correctly....

That's so awesome. My mother would never have let me do anything like that when I was in high school. She's totally paranoid about my driving and/or staying out late, to this day.

Good on him!

Must be nice to be able to talk about your political activities.

I hope you appreciate the privilege.

That's my older son you're thinking of. My younger son hasn't actually crashed the car. Yet. (crosses fingers, lights votive candle, rubs rabbit's foot).

He was supposed to work from 5 to 8 until to fulfill his school assignment. He got there late, though, so he worked late. I expected him home at about 9:00 pm, but he didn't make it home until almost 10. I will admit that I was a little worried.

This isn't a post about my political activities; the party affiliation is merely incidental to the story. I thought you flamed out. If you're going to hang around, I got no problem with that, as I've always kind of liked you until you became a gloomy gus about being the odd man out when it comes to politics.

In real life here in Texas, I'm the odd man out. It doesn't stop me from forming friendships, enjoying the company of others, or having pleasant conversations. Life is too short to let talk of politics or religion or other topics cut into that sort of thing.

So let's talk about being paranoid about our kids driving (or our parents being paranoid when we were kids), mmmkay?
