Metachat Fund Drive It's that time again and we're running a fund driver over the next few days to cover the hosting over the next year or so. →[More:]

Where the money is going:

Our Monthly Hosting cost will be $49.00 a month. Previously, this hosting was shared with myself (which is why I costed it at $25.00), but I'm in the process of transitioning all my own personal Hosting onto my own web server. Webspace hosting is provided by rimuHosting.com.

Last time, we collected enough hosting fees for 18 months. The price of the dollar against the pound and my weak accounting skillz has meant that this has stretched out to almost 2 years.

Please note that we're dropping the radio. Nobody really uses it, and it costs about $50.00 a month for streaming and licensing fees.

I said this last time, but I'll say it again.

1) You really don't have to contribute anything if you don't want to. This should be obvious, but if you don't want to send us money, then don't do it.

2) Paypal Only. If you haven't got a paypal account then you can't send us money. I really like taking cheques for nominal amounts to my bank so they can charge me a £5.00 foreign cheque processing fee, but this time I'm just not doing it.

3) I'll try and keep the contributed amount total up to date, but it's not real time. If you sent 10 bucks and the total hasn't gone up, then that is why.

4) We do all this with the support and help of our moderators. These are arse_hat, dg, iconomy and quonsar. Thanks to them & the continued help they provide the site. Please make sure you find and post a sparkling .Gif for them in the comments for this post. They all love sparkling .Gifs

I'm confused-one can paypal over at the Other Site using a credit card even if you don't use a paypal account-am I missing something?

I think you can.

A lot of the text above is copypasta from the last fund drive. paypal should allow you to send money as long as you've a credit card.

Thanks to everybody. Once again, we managed to get the requisite amount plus about 50% more in less than half a day.

I'm really touched at everyones generosity. As with last time, we got a fair few $50.00 donations and a couple of $100.00 donations. That amazes me. It really does.

Wow, I'm impressed with you guys! I have a lot of respect for people who are prepared to put their hand in their pocket without hesitation for whatever they can afford (you don't get more respect from me for paying more - it's a principle thing). I feel a bit embarrassed about all the thanks for moderators, because I really do bugger all here, apart from the occasional double-comment-delete here and there.

If it wasn't for all the rest of the members here, the site would have nothing but a few people of dubious character sitting in a circle wondering what to do next. Thanks to all of you for making this place what it is - the real credit goes to all of you.

Eh, Daddy's pretty funny. Being called a good girl raises my hackles.

No, no, Jessamyn is "Daddy" and Cold Chef is the "Good Girl" and the match is when they get partners to stop laughingly refusing, which may take a while, and we've constructed Thunderdome on land we've staked out with the bones of our enemies.
i'm low on enemies right now, but i'm sure there are a few that are ~~disposable~~ available. It's not vigilante justice if they never catch you.
