Campfire! My housemate just invited me to a campfire at her girlfriend's place in the country. Wahooo![More:]

There will be s'mores, dogs*, and wild persimmons**. What do you like best about campfires? Or do you hate them?

Also, should I shower or not? On the one hand, I haven't showered yet today, and thus am not my cutest self. On the other hand, I'm just going to get all smoky anyway.

*Canine not chili.
**My housemate's dog has had persimmon seeds in his poop recently. I thought they were roaches or beetles, until suddenly it clicked. (Warning: poop picture)
You offer us poo and ask us to judge your freshness.

If you feel comfortable, don't bother because unless you don't mind the smoke smell on your hair and skin, you'll clean up later.
i bathe when i feel gross, but then i feel gross a lot. And my gross i mean uncomfortable, not like poo bugs.
Aren't you glad they're not poo bugs?

Oooh, you can practice your freshly honed survival skills too!

I love fire, so what is there not to like about camp fires? But to answer your original question, I like to get mesmerized by the flames. Kumbaya is probably my least favorite part of campfires.

Also, I'm a shower junkie, so yes, I'd be taking a shower regardless of impending dirt, smoke, mysterious poo-incidents.

Have funs!

Ok, I'm out. I decided not to shower because my hair was cute enough (that, plus no discernable BO, is my indicator in a situation like this).

Oh! Maybe I'll bring a knife and carve sticks. Into pointy shapes! For catching squirrels for Brunswick Stew! (No relation.)

We will not be singing Kumbaya. That I promise.

The best part about campfires is burning stuff, of course. When I build a fire, you better have a loooong stick if you want to toast marshmallows without setting fire to your armpit hair at the same time.

Last weekend I got to join some of my friends who I hadn't seen in ages for a campfire and beers. It was so great. That's what we used to do all through our 20s when we lived and worked together in the great outdoors at an environmental school...it was so nice to revisit it.
