Shave the goatee or keep it? [More:]Please keep in mind: I hate this itchy thing!
Shave it!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 08 October | 18:14
Shave it, then. (but I'm not a goatee fan, anyway).
posted by gaspode 08 October | 18:17
If you hate, shave it.

The answer is always "Shave it."

It looks good, and if the little ones like it, keep it. We all suffer a little to be attractive. Besides, I like the name: Hurricane Goatee.
posted by msali 08 October | 18:21
Keep it, make smaller all about.

As one of the recently de-bearded: think carefully. Is the itching more or less of a pain in the arse than shaving every day? I'd forgotten what a waste of time it is.

That said, you really should take the opportunity to grow a big bushy 70s pornstar mo, and THEN shave the beard.

Not a goatee fan, in general, so I say, shave it!

I like mutton chops and a few mustaches, (e.g., handlebars, if waxed and curled, and pancho villas), just to give some context for my taste.

It's itchy.
You hate it.

Reduce the amount of hate in the world.
And itchiness.

I initially read it as Shave the goatse. My brain is now very confused.

The Hurricane Goatse makes a foul, foul wind!!!

Keep it. Fuck fashion, who needs it when ya got style. and after awhile you don't itch.

Some dude wore a real short waxed and curled 'stache in the store the other day. Plus he had on a striped t-shirt. Guy looked like Hurcule Fucking Poirot.

Looks nice, but if you hate it...

Maybe let the little ones shear ya? (I recommend an electric razor.)

Maybe you could do what I did when I had a ponytail: I searched match.com and sorted "long hair" into the "turn off" and "turn on" categories. "Turn off" won by a decent margin, so, snip!

I surveyed some girls at bars, and several had an interesting take: keep it so I can make you cut it off if we start dating.

let's compromise and make him shave just half.

Facial hair is one of the joys of being a dude. It's something only we (and the occasional ethnic grandmother) can do well. revel in it!
posted by jonmc 08 October | 18:59
Dear Coldchef, I think you will be more handsome without it. More professional.

Beards are no fun on the receiving end for women, not in my experience anyway.

Most of all, if you are uncomfortable with it, I encourage you to be clean shaven.

I knew a guy in college who did this. Course, I think he'd gone a bit crazy.
posted by Pips 08 October | 19:04
"Wacky" facial hair doesn't really fly for a mortician. A goatee is even pushing it.

I'm hearing a lot of "shave it." I think I'm gonna kill this thing tonight.

I'll do a few "stunt 'staches" before I do, though.
posted by ColdChef 08 October | 19:05
I like facial hair, but I don't much like most goatees. I say yay muttonchops, big bushy beard or fanciful moustache, but ixnay on the oatee-gay.

Also, I'm a little surprised that professional obligations don't force you to be clean-shaven. On preview: yeah, word.
posted by box 08 October | 19:06
Remember my 'Seth Bullock' stache from a few years back? Try that, you could be a 'Frontier Mortician,' or something.
posted by jonmc 08 October | 19:10
I'm not a goatee fan either, but I have to say that it did sorta suit you. But, yeah, clean-shaven is good too.

Dude. That is just about the second cutest little girl in the world.

I agree, but only if you're suggesting that her little sister, Magnolia, is the cutest. I'm biased.
posted by ColdChef 08 October | 20:19
I am SO glad you're doing stunt 'staches along the way! Yay!
posted by Stewriffic 08 October | 20:50
Well, after the cuteness and comedy, i can't possibly make my goatse joke.
posted by ethylene 08 October | 22:32
My brother has a friend who has such exuberant facial hair that he gave up shaving and now goes for "stunt" staches now. (I've never heard "stunt staches" before.)

Also, he names them.
posted by small_ruminant 08 October | 23:06
I'd trim it, or shave it. The only reason I keep mine is without it, I look no older than eleven.

But you'll do fine without.
posted by Lipstick Thespian 08 October | 23:32
I thought it looked good - can you glue it back on?
posted by gomichild 09 October | 01:07
Shave down to flavor-savor, snap a picture - then shave that too!
posted by dabitch 09 October | 03:43
Awwww I liked it!

P.S. Magnolia is an awesome name.
posted by Specklet 09 October | 04:49
It's a bit conquistadorish. Away with the itch!

Nuts, I know I responded to this thread, but I can't find me. Anyway, I like it, but I'm a fan of facial hair (on men). If you hate it that much, shave it. Either way, you look nice.
