Me too!!!!

There are few musicians who remain as relevant to me today as they were when I was in Grade 10 and first bought one of their records. He remains one of them.

1986 not only had Up With People (for the fourth time), but the theme was 'Beat of the Future'? Man, when you see 'em in list format like that, the Super Bowl halftime shows look kind of square.

Super Bowl XXVII: Michael Jackson and 3500 local children. . .

*cringe*

I know! That's why it's kinda sad that the Boss is doing it this year. I'd like to think he's above the commercial cheesiness of this event.

It's not like they can't find far more pedestrian and drunken crowd-safe performers to do this.

And OJ Simpson did the coin toss.

There was absolutely nothing sad about it when Prince did it. He rocked the mofo-ing house!

Here's hoping Bruce and the band refuse to leave the stage until they've done at least a three hour set.

Heheh, back in the 70s when he was on the magazine covers, among the cool crowd (outside the Jersey area anyway) he represented the pinnacle of commercial cheesiness and corporate sellout, what with his horn-band '50s-retread schtick.

Damn right he did!

Ha - Good point, rocket88. I wonder if he has a "won't play Born in the USA and can make political comments from the stage" clause in there too.

I bet it'll be good - the man still brings it live.

I am disappointed that it's not the Dictators.

My first thought was Handsome Dick, too. :)

BRUUUUUUUUUUCE!!!

(just practicing)

Heh. Handsome Dick is one of Bruce's friends, maybe he'll show. If there's any poetry in the world, the Giants will be one of the teams.

I found out today that my stepsister, who's on the Fordham faculty, published an article a few years ago about Bruce Springsteen and the concept of Catholic Piety. Whoa.

Wow, after this Superbowl I can die a happy man. Bruce Springsteen *and* finally the Buffalo Bills win it*? This is just too good!

*Remember, you heard it here first.

Jonmc: Yes, that would be poetic justice- the Giants losing to the Bills. ;-)
