Scrabulous is taking a coffee break? O NOES!!! While Scrabulous is "taking a coffee break," has anyone tried www.isc.ro for similar style of gameplay? I'm a one-move-per-email-from-anywhere type player (not "live," which the isc seems to be), so scrabulous's down-osity is kinda making me edgy like a Hostess addict after they ban twinkies.
Man, I love Scrabulous, but reliability is not its strong suit.

I used to play ISC a lot, but have kinda gotten away from it. Last I knew, it only supported 'live' play. There are always people to play with, but, if you want to play with your friends, that may not be helpful.

I asked an AskMe question about play-by-email games a while back--you might like some of the suggestions. In retrospect, though, I should've phrased the question better.

thanks, box! After panicking a bit, I found the wordscraper app on facebook; it's like scrabble with different bonus squares. And squares are circles! Very futuristic.

I am going to challenge my nemesis right now. Mu-ha-ha-ha, the day will be MINE!

not_on_display: great thing about worscrapper is you can make a board that is exactly like scrabble! Once you set up the game you can continue to use that board without having to set it up each time. It is weird getting used to the new colours but it is nice to be able to play in Facebook again.

BTW, add me on Facebook?

I just play Hasbro's Scrabble on Facebook. It's not as zippy as Scrabulous was, but it'll do. Wordscraper bugs me for some reason. Hit me up for a game.

To piggyback on this question, let's say that I don't have a Facebook account. Do I have any options in that case?

I tried to get a game going at http://www.thepixiepit.co.uk/scrabble/ (found via your askme) but the first time it looked promising but the game expired before we could start (a day or two later). The second game, I kept hitting their paypal wall. I think it's like $10/year for there. It'd be worth it, if no other options existed.

Yeah, I suppose I should just bite the bullet and sign up for a Facebook account, then only mention its existence to people I play Scrabble with.

You could always use a pseudonym that only your scrabble friends will recognize, like, Boxy McBoxbox, age 87, from the Hebrides... But yeah, "How do you get around it? Join Facebook already geez ok?" seems SO LAME.

Why, when I was a kid, we actually had a board, and these tiles that were made of wood. And if you wanted to play, you had to go to their house! Later on, sure, they made "Travel Scrabble," but BAH the kids and their small tiles. Tiny little tiles! Why I could barely even hold one of those travel scrabble tiles without fumbling it and getting it lost in my sleeve with the handkerchief I keep there, and scoring? aaaaahh, forget it, I can't read anything that tiny! How can you?! Now it's all beeps and boops and you have to join a "group"! And the mouse keeps going up my sleeve and getting lost in the handkerchief and I thought I put my tea down right here zzZZZzzZZZz
