26 September 2008

I voted today! Thank to early voting, my votes are cast, and now the next 50-something days are going to be sort of weird, like watching a show put on for someone else.
Exciting!

I did that once and my candidate dropped out, so my vote was wasted. Never again!

But what if you change your mind between now and then? What if you have one of those 'Road to Damascus' experiences and decide that you chose the wrong man? What then? Eh? Eh? Eh?

For God's sake, please, please think of the (unborn) children!

Eep! That reminds me: *runs off to call Elections Canada about voting by mail*

My library is an early-voting site. We've been pushing registration forms on people for a month now. Giving 'em out twenty at a time to our mail carrier, too. Made up a display of books about Obama, McCain and the election. (And I went ahead and, professional objectivity be damned, put a 'Librarians Against Palin' bumper sticker on my truck.) At least in this neighborhood, people are more excited about an election than I've ever seen, and it's pretty awesome. I don't expect the Dems to win Arkansas, but I definitely expect record turnouts all over the place.

Hey BP, I think you should vote a few more times! They'll never notice. Show up at the polls, too - by the time they figure it out, it'll all be over, and the Supreme Court'll give you a pass. If they catch you, just use Steve Martin's method of avoiding taxes:

"Iiiiii for-GOT!" "I forGOT I had already voted!"

I hear you, and while I don't put political bumper stickers on my car, I *am* going to put an Obama sign in my yard, if it ever actually gets here. Heh.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Miko's comment was actually posted by LT who forgot to log himself in... :D

One other thing: the line at the polling place was HUGE. Easily 150 people or more. I asked a poll worker if it had been like this before (this is the first week of early voting in Georgia) and she said "Every day. They're here at 7 AM, and it's still like this at 8 PM."

I know we aren't going to win our state because we all live in the same county, but man, it does feel good to know you aren't alone.

HA, Beeps! No - that's really Miko upthread.

I am intentionally forgoing the early voting thing, because I am a sick freak who wants to marinate in all the angsty lead-up drama prior to the election.

I want to vote on Election Day proper, and then quiver like a jello shot on a bachelorette's bellybutton until the whole shooting match is over and done with.

I may buy some Tequila for Thursday's WWF Smackdown debate, though.

HA!! I really thought that was you, LT... you're rubbing off on her, apparently. :) Or maybe I had just not recognized her wacky side. Heh heh!

I, too, like showing up at the polls on Election Day too much to vote early.

Hey, I showed up TWO MONTHS early. I flicked my feather boa over my shoulder and readjusted my leather biker helmet as I went into the polling place, and they didn't even notice.

(Actually, there were about 300 people waiting when I got there today... what is this, September?)

I could never vote early because what if some huge thing happened between my early vote and the election and then my vote could have changed the results? Actually, to be honest I am not 100% sure who I am voting for but I have it narrowed down to three candidates. The US election is much more exciting than the Canadian one. I can't wait for next week's debates.

I also voted today, by absentee ballot. I looked at all of the options for president, local elections, and ballot measures through the lens of "What would Sarah Palin do?" and then I did the exact opposite. I think that'll be my voting compass from now on.

God, I wish that the election were today, I don't think that I can stand the next five weeks.

I know you're joking, but at least in NC the poll judges (I used to be one) have a list posted of all the folks who voted early. We mark them off on our little sheets and everything.

I am definitely gonna vote early as soon as they open it up here. (And thank God, thank God thank God I am NOT a poll judge anymore! *shudder*)
