Oh poor pig. My guinea piggie is in hospital.→[More:]My other guinea pig (not the one with the headgear) had surgery today to remove bladder stones. BUT THEY COULDN'T GET THEM OUT. :( He is at the vet's now, not yet recovered from the surgery. Oh pig. His name is George. His brother, Fred, the one with dental issues is doing much better though.

The vet called. He can't keep his temperature up on his own, so they put some heating pads around him for the night. They recommended keeping him overnight in the hospital even though there is no staff. I had the option of bringing him home, but I thought the move would be stressful if he wasn't stable. The doctor agreed with me, but I hope I don't regret not bringing him home. Anyway, they are preparing me for the worst. Oh pig.

BTW, I had a guinea named Freddie when I was a kid. An Abyssinian, I think they're called with little rosettes in their fur. He was dark grey, and white and honey-coloured and I loved him.

Sad update; George did pass away in the night. He hadn't moved at all, so he just drifted away likely. He was almost 5 years old which is getting up there for sure.

Fred has a bit of Abyssinian in him for sure, though George was all Peruvian. I had found these guinea pigs running loose in a downtown park when there was still snow on the ground. A sow pig, and her babies.

Sad. :(
