THIS IS A BRIDEZILLA SHOUTING THREAD [More:]MY FUTURE SISTER-IN-LAW IS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER, SO I ASKED HER TWO MONTHS AGO IF SHE WOULD DESIGN THE PROGRAMS AND PLACECARDS. WE DISCUSSED THE DESIGN, I GAVE HER THE TEXT, ETC. I EVEN FOUND VECTOR GRAPHICS FOR HER. SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE THEM DONE LAST WEEKEND. I CALLED HER TODAY AND SHE SAID SHE HADN'T STARTED ON THEM. I SAID FINE I'LL JUST DO THEM MYSELF. THE WEDDING IS A WEEK FROM TODAY.

ALSO I WAS SUPPOSED TO PICK UP MY DRESS TODAY AND DROP IT OFF AT FUTURE-MOTHER-IN-LAW'S HOUSE (my mom lives too far away). I PICKED UP THE DRESS AND CALLED HER AND SHE WASN'T THERE WHEN SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. LEFT MESSAGES WHICH HAVE GONE UNRETURNED. SO I TOOK THE FUCKING DRESS AND PUT IT IN OUR GUESTROOM CLOSET AND LOCKED THE CLOSET DOOR SO FIANCE WON'T PEEK.

I JUST SHUT MY CELL PHONE OFF BECAUSE I AM NOT IN THE MOOD TO DEAL WITH ANYONE TODAY. "HI HOW ARE YOU" MIGHT SET ME OFF AT THIS POINT.

sorry this is so long.
I SAID FINE I'LL JUST DO THEM MYSELF.

If it makes you feel any better, my step-sister (a talented artist, if a bit flaky) designed the the invitations, etc for my sister's wedding. As requested, she drew a simple reef knot--two strands joined into one. It wasn't until we were all sitting at the table at the reception that she realized she'd put the lines in the wrong place, so that if the strands were pulled they'd come apart completely. See? Could be worse. *ducks*

I hope your wedding comes off beautifully. I'm sure it will. *sends hugs and massages and cocktails and breathing instructions*

That's really a cool idea, and if we didn't have a butterfly theme, I'd steal it. :P

Yeah, it was a pretty cool wedding all around. I also liked that the JP introduced the new couple as "Dr. and Mr. [sister's name]" (sister is an MD). And that we (the bride's party) had to be told to get a move on up the stairs and down the aisle because my sister had forgotten what music she chose so missed her cue and she just laughed and got on with it.

I hope we'll get to see some pics of yours. The butterfly theme sounds lovely.

I always hated it when the newly married would tell me "None of it will matter and it will all be ok" so I'm not going to tell you that. I'll just give you a hug instead, and duck in case you take a swing at me. :)

Aaarrgghhhh, as if you need this stress a week before the wedding. If it helps, your fiance will have no idea how great you will look in the dress, even if he does peek. Your cumulative beauty will be so much more than the dress, and will overwhelm him. Try to think of this as a great story to tell afterward!

May I just add this photo? Backstory: a bride came in to our store (remember, it's a supermarket, not a high-end bakery) and ordered a wedding cake. She had a page from the internet, and wanted the design from one cake (done in pastels) done in the colors from another (bold, bright blue, black, and white). This was the result:

Talk about a story? This cake was ordered three months in advance. The parts were shipped the week before the wedding - the middle layer was completely smashed. Our bakery manager was beside herself; she was assured that a replacement cake would be sent by Monday (the cake was being picked up on Friday). Monday came and went - no cake. She called everyone she could in the company, finally getting through to someone who called the company that makes the cakes. She was assured that on Thursday morning she'd get the replacement cake, since the tech was coming to do the decorating that day. Sure enough, all the way from Delaware (we're in Jersey) the delivery truck came. With a box of cheese. He never checked what he was delivering. Now the bakery manager was frantic, but the tech arrived, and apparantly had been through this before. She MADE a three layer cake by cutting circles out of sheet cakes herself. She followed the brides' instructions on color, though we all thought that the cake needed something, and we were biting our nails about it. But the bride came in, and loved it. Seems that she was getting married in a dress the same color blue as the cake, with the bridesmaids in black. Personally, I love it when someone has a cake out of the ordinary, but this cake looked like it should have Hot Wheels cars all over it. Makes for a great story, anyway.

redvixen has a point. My husband (it still feels so weird to say/type that!) cried when he saw me and I'm quite sure it had nothing to do with the dress.

RV? That cake looks like a pimp hat.

It WILL be FINE!

I'm sorry folks are letting you down, but it does happen. If you have it under control yourself, you are ahead of the game. I did our "casual" invitations myself. I got more compliments on them than I did the "official" ones. Please don't be too angry at the future sis-in-law. She might be having diety-knows-what going on in her life, too.

You will be beautiful. You will take your groom's breath away. And then, thankfully, there won't be any more planning needed.

Many hugs and sympathies, hon. Weddings are hard.
A good marriage is a fine, fine thing. Also, PRESENTS!

:)

I know I'm a full two days late to this thread, but...

I JUST SHUT MY CELL PHONE OFF BECAUSE I AM NOT IN THE MOOD TO DEAL WITH ANYONE TODAY

sounds to me like a necessary premarital coping strategy. Good for you --- give yourself time to recalibrate.

So sorry things got gummed up, but it does happen, and venting about it here is a good way to blow off some of the pressure.

The Fella and I have not even started the planning process, much less braved the inevitable suggestions, opinions, and offers of help from family. I'm anxious about the onslaught.

I'll be sending you happy wishes on the day! We'll look forward to seeing photos/ hearing stories/ crafting alibis for the no-doubt-justifiable homicide.
