Proof that my husband knows me too well. Just got my birthday present: many bottles of wine and a 3 month subscription to a (unpasteurized) cheese of the month club. (End of pregnancy here I come!) What gifts have you been given that were just perfect at the time?

My family and my partner have never been great at the gift-giving thing, but I'm jealous of your cheeses. And yes, kudos to Mr. G for even thinking of such a thing. :)

The Lord of the Rings for Christmas 1980 when I was eight. Perfect books for me, at the perfect time, I had already read The Hobbit about ten or fifteen times. Either that, or the Death Star playset.

9th birthday. A yellow peddle-brake bike with a black and yellow banana seat, from my father. Almost killed myself learning to ride.
