The day before yesterday, at the famous indie bookstore,→[More:] we had an event involving Chuck Palahniuk (it was ticketed and up on the 3rd floor, so I didn't get to see it). Anyways, his publicist gave us employees a ton of schwag, includin promo bookmarks from Choke, the tassels of which were..anal beads.

Wait a second. This guy is promoting his book at the very place where the display of an author's latest hard bound book priced at three dollars is the dictionary definition schadenfreude?

I got to stand next to him for a few hours while he autographed books and talked with fans, and he's got to be one of the nicest authors I've ever met. Totally not the type of writer you'd expect from his works.
