"Discourses of identity and consumerism in working-class popular culture in postwar Britain; texts to be discussed include London Calling by The Clash and All Mod Cons by The Jam."
"A Psycho-Sociological Discourse on Internet Trolls.
Internet trolling phenomena: A mixture of juvenilia, sarcasm, deliberately bad jokes, tasteless nonsense and highly developed attempts to provoke outraged responses from other forum users. Trolls can generally be divided into four categories: disruptive, offensive, deceptive, and idiosyncratic. This course shall make inquiry into the anthropological forces at work in this medium and evaluate the possibilities of current trends."
You will listen attentively while Dr. Groovy blisses out on random topics ranging from Jamiroquai to The Wire to the truth about the International Jewish Conspiracy. Attendance is absolutely mandatory and counts for 100% of your grade.
This class covers the most recent French Theory from Badiou to Slavoj Zizek to the present day. We will be close reading some of the most important texts of late 20th and early 21st century.
