Tiny bits of happiness. [More:] You ever been sleeping and you wake up having to pee or get a drink of water or something and you look at the clock and see that it's 5 minutes before the alarm's going off anyway? and then get disppointed about that? Conversley though, if the same thing happens and the clock says that the alarm won't go off for another hour or so, that makes me really happy.

Also, at work, we just got a new box cutter. It's shiny, with a big heavy case and a safety sheild. I love it. I call it 'Mack.' I don't know whether to be pleased with myself for finding small things like this to be thrilled about, or worried for the same reason.

(in other news, it's hot as a bastard here in NYC. Yesterday, I snuck off during my lunchbreak to a nearby bar, since the weather cried out for cold beer. Within 10 minutes 4 of my coworkers came in. I guess they had the same idea. We're all bad boys I realize, but what's the worst that could happen, a misshelving or two? Fuck that, it's hot and we're tired and angry.)
You got a little bit of happiness on your shirt, there. Yeah - right there. Okay, good - you got it.
Conversely though, if the same thing happens and the clock says that the alarm won't go off for another hour or so, that makes me really happy.

Yes.

Today this made me smile:

Me to son's friend: "Sam, call your mom and ask if you can have dinner with us."

-Sam calls mom. Is on the phone for a very brief moment.-

Me: "That was quick."

Sam: "Yeah. We're half Mexican, half German. We talk fast."

Heehee. I wasn't aware of these fast talking Germans and Mexicans.

One of the nuns at catholic school told us how to wake up in time for choir practice: look at the time it is, and imagine the time you want to get up. Punch your pillow once for each hour of planned sleep, then as you fall off, imagine the clock running in fast motion forward and backward from the time it is, to the time you want to wake up. Totally works, to the minute.

I hate when I'll wake up in the middle of the night and feel 100% rested. See that I still have hours before the alarm and rejoice. Then when the alarm goes off I feel like I have had zero sleep.

Also, we can put a man on the moon but can't be able to set how long the snooze interval should be? The fixed 7-10 minutes is just cruel.

The seven day alarm might do the trick (at of course thinkgeek)

I am LUSTING over that kitchen timer.

Be pleased with yourself. People can spend their energy being happy or unhappy. It's better to be happy.
