Deacon Lunchbox and two other members of the Jody Grind -- who also often played as part of the Quartet -- were killed in a van accident by a drunk driver. Benjamin then formed Smoke.
Oh, how cool. Your timing is amazing- just a couple of days ago, A. and I were talking about how much we miss going out to see the Opal Foxx Quartet (and later, Smoke) on Halloween and New Year's.
I had no idea there was so much stuff from the Jody Grind on YouTube. (There's a lot of Kelly Hogan solo stuff, too, now that I look.)
